(Comm. from Daphne M. Graham Re: protesting taxi zone at 1029 Morro 3t. Comm. from Planning Commission Re: purchase of-property in- Block-19- Application-for transfer of license of-Deluxe-Cab from Reba I.Smith to Ilo 1J. and.Ramond Munoz at 1029 Morro3t, was granted on emotion of K1ine17illiams, seconded by IR. P. Howell. Commissioner R.P.Howell, reported his findings on the Greenleaf property Lots 9, 10, 11; Block•88, suggesting °the City offer $3650 to purchase the property. It was moved by R.P. Howell;• seconded by Wm. 0:Hall, the City Clerk be instructed to submit Ito Greenleaf,-Estate, an offer of-$3650-for-the property. Robert 5eavers% Mgr: of-the-Chamber-of Commerce-,''acting-as spokesman for the Baseball.interest, appeared before the Council asking. the City to close Mill St. between Broad and Nipomo - which would allow -the Mission Ball Field to be extended. After brief discussion; the-Council assured the group they would do all in their power to see that Mill St. is closed behind -the diamond: It:wasmoved by Kline Williams; seconded by Wm.-O. Hall, Edwin V. Stumpf be appointed Regular Police Officer as of July 15;,1947 at a base pay of $253.00 per month,- (Vance A. Shook appointed as vacation relief officer and Ray Duncan granted 2 weeks vacation with pay. Ernest-Twisselman, acting as spokesman for the Grand Jury Committee appeared before the . City--Council-urging-the Council to -pass a proposed-ordinance which would outlaw all coin - operated machines, stating the. Board of Supervisors believed that County action on the measure would be ineffective without cooperation of the cities. The proposed ord died for lack -of-a motion: Complaints received from residents of the Yoakum Tract about the acute water Ishortage -in the district were-advised by the Mayor to getup a petition obligating them to reimburse the•City,for the cost of installing larger mains, and inthe mean time, the Engineering Dept. would work up an estimate-of the cost. On motion of R.P.Howell;•seconded by G. W.Baker. the Mayor-was- authorized to accept Plans and Specifications on the new City Hall, subject to the approval of the City.Engineer and the,-Building Inspector. On motion.=_tif G.
