O..Hall, R.P. Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Absent: None The minutles of the meeting of Nov. 17th were approved. Communication from Harry N.Jenks Re: Preliminary Design and estimate of cost on proposed water filtration plant together with Plans was referred to the City Engineer, Commissioner of Public Works and the City Attorney. Communication from the San Luis Obispo City Schools, together with Resoluti Re: Freeway Crossings was ordered received and filed for future reference, on motion.of R.P. Howell, seconded by G.W.Baker. The application of Wm. H. Ragle for position with city as meter repair man was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, and communication ordered filed on motion'of R.P. Howell, seconded by G.W.Baker. The following matters were ordered received and filed: Communication from California Mission Trails Assn. Re: Appointment of member of City Council to Board of Directors. Petition of F.M. Todd et al protesting the moving of a house into the Caudill Tractj owned by Mrs. Milton Nadelle Application of A.A.Reed for position with city Communication from Luippodd Engineering Sales Co. for Contract Renewal 1948 Requirements on Chlorine was referred to Commissioner of Public Works, on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams. Ordinance No. 295 (New Seiilasj - An Ordinance amending Sections 552, 652 and 74 of Ordinance No. 76 (New Series) entitled:" An Ordinance licenseing and regulating the doing of certain acts and the carrying on of certain trades, callings, business, professions etc. was finally passed on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by Kline Williams upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P. Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: None Petition from E.W. Rodriguez, M. H. Stephens and Elizabeth Weddell, asking for reconsideration in zoning property in Weills Addn. It was moved by G.W.Baker, second by Kline Williams the petition be forwarded to the Planning Commission for review, in- forming the Commissioner of the Council's approval of the request. The following reports were ordered received and filed on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by Wm. 0. Orvis for registration as a Class "E" Contractor together with Hartford,Accident and Indemnity Co. Bond in the amount of $500 and registration fee of $15.00 received and on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approvers and registration granted. The application for transfer of license of the San Luis Plating Works at 131 South St. from F. H. McBee to Lloyd Mathews at 354 Higuera St. was referred to the Ci Engineer and Building Inspector, on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams. Ordinance No. 296 (New Series) - An Ordinance providing for the acquisition of certain real property by the City of San Luis Obispo from William'H. Nagano and Patrick �16 Noriyoshi Nagano was introduced and passed to print on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Wiliams Noes: None Absent: None Claims a g?i nst the City for the month of November were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Communication from M. W. Miller Re: purchase of property from the City of San Luis Obispo was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Attorney. Commissioner of Supplies was authorized to call for Informal Bids on Gasoline and Oil for the City's requirements for the year 191+8 -- bids to be opened December 15, 194+0 Communication from Ralph R. Westfall addressed to Councilman Baker, offering to purchase the Laguna property was ordered received and filed on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, deconded by G.W.Baker. Commissioner Hall reported on the Paiva property, corner of Palm and Morro Street stating the property could be purchased for $27,000; it was moved by Wm. 0. Hall, the City offer to purchase the property at $27,000; motion lost for want of a second. The following communications were ordered received and filed: Communication from Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; Re: Grade Crossings " from Chamber of Commerce Re: Tower Lights surrounding Airport. The following transfer of city licenses were granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Kline Williams: Transfer of Standard Motor Service at 990 Higuera St. from Joe Parker to Harry G. Christensen Transfer of Mac's Mobile Service to Wm. Wl Hower " of Bill's Mobile Service Sta. from Wm. S. flower to Luke Jones If of Associated Sta. at 1108 Monterey St. from Jack W.Sharp to Arthur E.Leister If 11 if " Marsh and Higuera St. from Arthur E.Leister to Chas. Eeckhout The application of W. L. ',lest for Bakery at 785 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by R. P. Howell. On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by R. P. Howell the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety was authorized to hire a Traffic Ogficer and thle Commissioner of Supplies to purchase a Motorcycle , if needed, by the Department. Commissioner R.P.Howell was instructed to negotiate with the School Board on the Mitchell lot property. Communication from Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Birra Re: zoning of their property on So. Street was referred to the Planning Commission on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline lliams. Communication from J. F. Hickenbottom requesting a leave of absence for aperiod f 90 days was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by G.W.Baker. ( as of cember 15, 191+7). On motion of G.W. Baker, ,zeconded by R. P. Howell, the Commissioner of Public th and Safety was authorized to hire a temporary fireman for a period of 90 days.
