Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams Absent: G. O T.Baker, ?-'m. 0. Hall The minutes of May 3rd were approved. Communication from Ernest B. Thiele, applying for position of Chief of Police was referred to the City Engineer. Communication from Ben F. Loveall, Chairman of the Park Playground and Recreation Com- mission, informing the Council that Miss Louise Larshall had been releasedas of April 301 1948 was ordered received and filed. Communication from the Recreation Comir.ission advising the appointment of Miss Rittenhouse to the position of Supervisor of Recreation as of May 24th at a salary of $2800 per annum was referred to the Commissioner of Finance, Wm. 0. Hall, on motion of R.P.Howell, second. by Kline '^,rilliams. Communication from the 20 -30 Club requesting permission to nark the Hoosegow in front of various locations during the Fiesta program week was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by R.P.Howell, locations to be indicated b- the Police Dept. C =.-.unica.tion from J. B. Clark complaining about certain workmen operating without a city license was ordered received and filed. The following transfer of licenses were referred to the City Engineer for report: Transfer of Texaco Service Station from Jesse Munoz to H.G. Christensen " of Standard 71'totor Service from Harry Christensen to Ed O'Reilly The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on motion of R.P. liol.aell. seconded by Kline Williams, tee bonds 1:�ere approved, sureties accepted and re- gistrat.ion granted: L. Fee P 15.00 On motion of Kline 1;7illiams, seconded by R.P. Howell, the total supervision and. maintenance of the city parking meters was ordered transferred to the Department of Public Jorks as of this date. A request from Jeff Johnson, a resident on Foothill Blvd. some distance beyond the city limits for a renewal of :rater service was denied by the Council. Petition filed by D. W. Boodry et al requesting reclassification of the Zoning: Ordinance as it an-)lied to Lots 5,6,7 in the Imneriat Addition, requesting a change from R -2 to C -1 was referred to the Planning Commission for study and recommendat on motion_ of Kline Williams, seconded by R.P.Howell. Carl Myers of Los Angeles, appeared before the Council at this time, requesting for an interview-- he was referred to the City Engineer, head of the personnel department, with instructions to obtain and file an application form for employment. The application of 1:,'ard I. Cook for Dining Room License was granted on paotion o Kline Williams, seconded by R.P.Howell. The Merchandising Bond of Chas. K. Beventon dba Selbenton Dist. Resolution No. 837 (New Series) - A Resolution providingfor the execution of an Agreement with Theo. C. ]aino and A. Report of the City Treasurer for the month of April, 1948 was ordered received Communic ;.tion from Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Loftin asking for permission to erect street booth was referred to Comm. of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by R. P. Howell. Commissioner R.P.Howell reported the sale of Motor Grader to Harold E. Bennett, of Paso Robles for $1750. -- the sale was approved by the Council on motion of G.1•d.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams. City Engineer, Guido Ferini, presented a. construction project ( S +.reet Work Program for fiscal year 1948 ) and on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, the program was approved and accepted,- Commissioner Howell instrur.ted to proceed with the work. Petition presented by the City Employees for a salary* increasewas again taken up at this time. Lloyd Schultz, official spokesman, for the group, stated the employees prefer the increase in salary, as presented in the original petition. After further discussion, and on motion of G.W. Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, the City Clerk was instructed to communicate with at least six different cities in the general area of comparable size or population, relative to their salary schedule for employees and de- partment heads. Commissioner G.W.Baker suggested that the Col.:ncil should consider the purchasing of new Police Cars in the near future. On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, the meeting adjourned.
