HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/30/1948L 'garade on Sunday, July 4th was granted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by R.P.Howell. The following matters were ordered received and filed: Petition from C. E. Graces et al Re: Parking Meters Communication from A.F. Roberts Re: Salary raise " from J.E.Brown , Re: " It Mayor O'Reilly appointed Miles Fitzgerald to fill the vacancy of a member of the Library Board -- the appointment was approved by the Council on motionof G. W. Baker, sec by R.P. Howell. Mayor O'Reilly also, appointed Herbert Grundell, Jr. to serve as City Auditor on a part time basis, the appointment being approved by the Council, on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by G. W. Baker. The City Clerk presented a recap of cities of comparable size, at the request of the Council, ih connection with the request of the employees for a salary raise. After discussion, it was moved by R.P.Howell, and seconded by G. W. Baker that all city em- ployees of the City of San Luis Obispo ( excluding the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief, City Engineer, City Attorney, the Park Playground and Recreation Fund, and Library Employees) be granted a salary increase of $15.00 per month as of July 1, 1948. On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams, the Fire Chief and Police Chief base pay be established at $375.00 per mormth as of July 1st, 1948. On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by VIm. 0. Hall, the meeting adjourned to Jnne 30th, 1948 at 7:30 P.M. upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm.,-.O. Hall, R.P. Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly On motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline Williams, it was ordered the bid for Dump Truck as per advertised specifications be awarded to the lowest bidder, ( Booth Bros. in the amount of $3310.75 F.O,B. San Luis Obispo, State sales tax included -- Delivery ed assured within three weeks, and the certified checks be returned to the unsuccessful biddeis. Resolution No. 847 (New Series) - A Resolution fixing the Compensation of the Chief of Police and the Chief of the Fire Department was passed and adopted on motion of 14m. 0. Hall, seconded by G. W. O'Reilly Resolution No. 848 (New Series) - A Resolution granting a $15.00 per month increase in wages and salaries paid to certain city officials and employees was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G.W.Baker upon the.following vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P.Howell, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: Timothy I. O'Reilly Resolution No. 850 (New Series)- A Resolution accepting a deed from the I.D.E.S. Hall Association of San Luis Obispo was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G.WBaker upon the following vote: Ayes: G.W. Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P.Howell, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: Timothy I. O'Reilly Resolution No. 851 (New Series) - A Resolution declaring a certain portion of Nipomo Street to be and constitute a one -hour parking zone was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G. I.I. Baker upon the following vote: Ayes: G. W. Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P. Howell, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: Timothy I. O'Reilly Resolution No. 852 (New Series) - A Resolution declaring certain pobtions of Pacific Street and Santa Barbara Ave. to be and constitute Boulevards was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G. W.Baker upon the following roll call vote Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P Howell, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: Timothy I.
