Baker, 1 %1m. 0. Hall R.P. Howell, Timothy I. O'rieilly,Klineililliams Absent: None The report of the City Engineer, covering estimated costs for cer`.a.in necessary improvements and additions to the water distribution and supply system of the city was presented to the Council at this time. After discussing the higher cost of Salinas River water, repair program, storage facilities and the probable cost of de- veln.ping new wells, a tentative rate of $1.65 for 1000 cu ft. was agreed upon. The louncil also agreed to meet as a body with the Board of Supervisors at 2 P.M. Oct. 18, 191+8 to discuss the matter of Increased Rates for [,later furnished the city. The City Engineer was instructed to draft a new water ordinance for the Council's approval. The City Attorney was instructed to write the Southern Pacific Railroad ;ol and ask their representative to meet with.the Council to consider new Agreement on -later supplied the company. The City Attorney was instructed to rewrite contract covering Agreement an water supplied the California Poly School. The purchase of two Police Cars was held over at the suggestion of Com- nissioner Baker stating he was not ready to report. Petition from Gerald Mason asking for permission to use the City Streets Por operating a sound truck to advertise the Progressive Party was granted by common consent of the Council. Commissioner Kline Williams was authorized by the Council to hire a man Por the Fire Department. Communication from the City Clerk certifying petitions for Annexation 3f certain territory ( Johnson Ave. District) was ordered received and filed on motion Df G. W. Baker, seconded by Wm. O.Hall. Resolution of Intention No. 859 (New Series) - P. Resolution of Intention to call a Special Election to submit to the Qualified Electors of "Portions 167 sf Blocks 3,1+ and 5 of the Goldtree Vineyard Tract; etc. was passed and adopted on motion Df G.W.Baker, seconded by ?elm.
