Present: Douglas M.Ca.rpenter,Wm.0.Hall,Timothy I.O'Reilly,Kline Williams,Frank V.Woods Absent: None The Minutes of the meetings of May 16th and May 23rd, 1949, were approved. This being the time set, as per advertised notice, for receiving bids for light- ing the proposed Soft Ball Diamond located at Santa Rosa Park.The Following Bids were received: 1 - rallagher & Ochs - Amt. of Bid a 2227.00 2 - Cline's Flectric " " " 2220.49 3 - San Lu;s Flectric " " " 2500.00 It was moved by Frank V. Woods, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, that the bid be awarded to the Cline's Flectric Co. in the amount of $2220.49. Motion carried. Communicationfrom C. A. Maino Re: Viaduct under State Highway #101 was referred to the City .Attorney for study and report on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Douglas Carpent r. Communicationfrom the American Legion Post #66 applying for an exempt City License for the Foley and Burke Carnival for the week of July 6th was.referred to the Commissioner of . Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Communication from I. S. T. Portuguese Lodge requesting permission to hold a parade at 10 A.M. Sunday, June 12th was granted or motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall -- parade to be under the supervision of the Police Department. Communication from the American Assn. of University of Women requesting financial assistance on elementary school a.:e program was referred to the Recreation Commission for study and report on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams. Copy of communication addressed to "Sheriff" from Attorney General's office was ordered received and filed. Communication received from County Tax Collector, listing city property deeded to the State for delinquent taxes, which the County wish to sell at Public Auction, June 14, 1949 and referred to as, Parcels 246, 2479 2482 249, 250 and 251. On motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the City Clerk was instructed to write and inform the Tax Collector regarding parcels 249 and 250 and advise him if these two parcels are included in the sale, the Street Assessments must be paid in full. Communication from the Shoreline Planning Assn1 of California Re: California Beach nPvelorment was ordered received and filed on motion of Douglas Carpenter, seconded by Kline ?Iilliams. Communication from Park, Playground and Rec. Commission Re: dead trees in city park, Osos and Buchon Sts. requesting their removal was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Douglas Carpenter. Communication from Montgomery Ward requesting permission to sponsor a bike parade on June 25, 1949 was referred to the,Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of Douglas Carpenter, seconded by Kline Williams. Communication from Edwin V. Stumpf asking for reinstatement in the Police Dept. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for study and report. Robert Hendry, representative of the Blue Cross and B1ueSeal Ins. Co. appeared before the City Council, outlining hospital and medical plan for city employees; he was authori to meet with the City. Hall: 1 - San Luis Obispo Loan and Jewelry Co., 974 -A Monterey St. from Thos. E.Thorne to Matt Kohn, Jr. 2 - Al's Service Station, 1185 Monterey St. from W.E. Stewart to Arthur A.Adler, dba "Art's Texaco Service ". 3 - Mar -Ven Barber'Shop at 1027 Osos St. to George Glen Elfman The following reports were ordered received and filed: 1 - City Collector's report for the month of May, 1949 2 - City Police Judge's " 3 - Police Deptl Report 4 - Building Inspector's 5- City Treasurer's " " " April, 1949 6 - City Clerk's claims against the City for the month of May, 1949 were ordered paid, subject to the Japproval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Petition filed by E. E. Glover et al requesting the City to xcept a- private Road was referred to the Planning Commission for study and report on motion of JWm . 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods. Application of L.D.Ray for Restaurant License at 894 Higuera St. was (referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. On motion of Douglas Carpenter, seconded by Wm.0.Ha11, the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety was instructed to direct the Chief of Police to make a survey for Boulevard Stops on the following streets: Mill St. from Santa Rosa to Broad St. Pacific St. south: from Osos St. to its end Intersection at Chor ro and Walnut Streets Commissioner Vim. 0. Hall was authorized to call for bids on 6 inch water line to be located along Ferrini Road to serve the new Charles E.Teach School. On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Douglas Carpenter, the re- surfacing of South Broad Street was authorized. The Mayor was authorized to sign Agreement with the Southern pacific Railroad Co. coverin,* Grade Crossing Signal, and on motion of Wm..O. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams, the following Resolution was adopted: Resolution No. 891 (New Series) - A Resolution authorizing the City Council to enter into an Agreement with the Southern Pacific Co. regarding installation of Crossing Signals at Marsh Street was passed and adopted on motionof Wm. 0. Communication from United Spanish War Veterans requesting permission to display car on the city streets for obtaining donations was granted on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall. The following transfer of city licenses were granted on motion of Frank V.Woods seconded by Wm. 0. Hall: Transfer of Mission Taxi and Yellow Cab Co., 1/3 interest of Wm. C. Cerney to Forrest E. Bell and Chas. E. Bell. Transfer of Arizona Cafe from Dorothy C. Simpson to Tony Machado at 562 Higuera St. On motion ofIft. 0. Hal , seconded by Frank V.
