Present: D.M.Carpenter, Wm.O.Hall,Timothv I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V. Woods Absent: None The minutes of Dec. 5th and 7th, 1949 were approved. In response to request for Informal Bids on Gasoline, Oils, Greases, etc. for City's requirements fr)r the year 1950, the following companies submitted bids: 1 - Union Oil Co. 2 - Seaside Oil Co. 3 - Richfield Oil Co. 4 - J. B. Dewar Dist. for Norwalk Oil Co. 5 - General Petroleum Corp. 6 - Shell Oil Co. 7 - Signal. Oil Co. 8 - T. M. Burch. Dist. for Wilshire Oil Co. Q - The Texas Co. 10- Associated Oil Co. 11- Standard Oi1Co. the bids were presented to the Council and on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods the bids were referred to the Commissioner of Supplies for study and power to act. Communications: 1 - From R. L. Crawford of Wasco, Calif. submitting his application for position of Chief of Police, together with letters of recommendation were referred to the Personnel office on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Kline Williams. 2 - From Division of Highways, under date of Dec. 8, 1949 Re: Cancellation of City Taxes on property acquired for hivhway purposes, showing name of grantor and recording date were ordered cancelled on motion. of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0 Hall. 1- From Farmers Insurance Group listing quotations covering cost on increased limits for Public Liability and property damage was referred to Commissioner of Finance for study and report on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded byWm. O.Hall. 4- Communication from San Luis Obispo Health Dept. Re: sewer condition on property of S. O.Perkins on South Broad St. was referred to Commissioner of Public Works for study and report on motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Kline Williams. 5- Communication from B. of L. E. Local Div. 664, extending Xmas Greetings was ordered received and filed. Petition from A. G. Albrecht asking for permission to erect a 7 ft. board fence along south side of Lot 1, Block 1, Norton Addition was referred to the Planning Commission on motion of D. M. Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods. Petition filed by Mrs. A. B. Culver, et al ( 34 signers) requesting street lights in Mt. Pleasanton District was ordered received and filed and City Clerk in- strutted to write Mrs. Culver and inform her the i.m rk is programed and will be completed before Jul�r, 1Q50. The following matters were ordered received and filed on motion of Kline Villiams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall: Reports: City Collector's Renort for the month of November, 1949 City Treasurer's City Clerk's The Merchandising Bond of Helen Matts inthe amount of $200 with the Great Amerir_an Indemnity Co. as surety, was received and on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by D. M. Carpenter, the surety was accepted, bond approved and license ordered issued. Resolution No. 934 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of a contract with John E. Smee, regarding the Phillips Addition Sanitary Improvement District was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Woods Noes: None Absent: None Resolution No. 936 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the approving waiver of removal provisions on temporary housing was passedand adopted on motion of trlm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams upon the following vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. O.Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank. V. Woods Noes: None Absent: None Wm. B. Holdredge appeared before the Council at this time regarding the proposed new City Hall Plan. Mr. Holdredge was instructed to.confer with the City Attorney and contact State and Federal Agencies regarding funds available from those sources. Ordinance No. 322 (New Series) - An Ordinance providing for the acquisition of certain real property by the City of San Luis Obispo from the State of California was finallv passed on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams by the following vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. 0 Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V. Woods Noes: None Absent: None Ordinance No. 323 (New Series) - An Ordinance providing for the acquisition of certain real property by the City of San Luis Obispo from the Church of Christ was finallv passed on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by KlineWilliams by the following vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V. Woods Noes: None Absent: None On motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. O.'Hall, the Mayor was authorized to sim- Agreement relating to the sale of certain land by the County of San Luis Obispo to the State of California, the City of San Luis Obispo to be reimbursed $234.64 for the Assessment lien and $25.00 for city tax lien. Communication from San Luis Obispo City Schools requesting cancellation of taxes on property acquired for school nurposes ( known aF the Correa property) were ordered cancelled on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by D.M.Carpenter. Petition filed by V. M. Burdick et al requesting certain street work, street ligHts and fire protection along Bishop St. and Sierra Way was ordered received and filed and City Clerk instructed to inform Mr. Burdick that Street Fire Hydrants will be in- stalled at the corner of Bishop and Johnson Ave. On motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Kline Williams, it was moved that Ralph Files be removed from the Office of Chief of Police for inability, and he be paid from the time of his suspension ( Dec. 5th ) through December 31, 1949, and be allowed one week's vacation pay in addition. The Mayor stated , Mr.,Files was apprized of the Council' proposed action last Thursday, and he would he given until Monday, December 19, 1949 to tender his resignation.
