This being the time set as per advertised notice for receiving bids on Chorro
G.treet and liathvray Ave. resurfacing,- the following bids were received:
1 - TJalter Bros. Amt. $8575.00
2 Fesler Bros: `T 6518.25
3 Madonna Construction Co. IT 6497.00
Thp Rids were reviewed by the Council and on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded. by Kline
°iilliams, the hid eras awarded to Madonna Construction Co. in the amount of $6497.00.
Resolution No. 961 (New Series) - A Resolution awarding the contract for the
resurfacing of Chorro Street from Stenr.er Creek Bridge to Murray .Ave. and Hathway Ave.
from California Blvd. to Carpenter-Street was passed and adopted on motion of Frank V.
Woods, seconded b ?r Kline Williams upon the folloi•rinm roll- call vote:

The City Council met in regular session; Mayor Timothy I. O'Reilly presiding.
Present: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. O.Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V. Woods
Absent: Kline Williams
The minutes-of the meetings of June 19th and June 24th, 1950 were approved.
This being the time set as per advertised notice for receiving bids on the
Garbage Contract,--the following bid was- received:
San Luis Obispo Garbage Co., offering the City 21% of the gross volume of business
conducted by said Company within the City with a- minimum of $1500 per year and-one-public-
clean-up week per year in the spring. Mayor O'Reilly objected to the word "Contract Agent"
in the contract as submitted. Commissioner Hall expressed the belief that -the City should
get two clean -up weeks per year instead of one. After further discussion, the matter was
referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of D.M.Carpente�,
seconded by Frank V. Woods.
Certified copy,.of'the-County Clerk as to the results of the canvass of the
Election Returns on the "Initiative Ordinmce of the Citv of San Luis Obispo" benefits
available under the National Housing Act, were ordered spread in the Minutes on motion of
Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by D.M.Carpenter as follows:

Code and resultion of--the . Board of= Supervisors of -said-'County heretofore
adopted and entered upon.the minutes of "said -Board, I -did canvass the re-
turns of -the vote. cast in the City -of. San'Luis Obispo, Precincts No. 1 to-

inclusive, insaid'County at'the -- consolidated election held on June 6th,
1950, at which the following proposition was submitted to the voters of the
City. of San Luis Obispo, said County and State, viz: A
"INITIATIVE ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
Shah the City of San Luis Obispo, California, adopt
that certain proposed initiative ordinance entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY THE
.CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO IN BENEFITS AVAILABLE UNDER
THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT ", which said °ordinance.pro
vides that said City does approve and endorse the
application of the Housing Aut- hority of the County
of San Luis Obispo under the 1�ational Housing Act of
1949, for a repliminary loan to cover the costs of
surveys and planning for the development of low rent
public housing in said City; and - that the City Council
be directed to enter into an agreement with said
Housing Authority which will secure low rent public
housing for said City, to, the extent of the need as
shown by said survey and funds available? ".
and that the statement of the vote cast to which this certificate is attached,
shows the whole number of.votes cast in said City of San Luis Obispo and the
whole number of votes cast for and against said measure in said City and in
each of the respective precincts therein and that the totals as shown for said
- measure is full, true-and correct.

1 - Communication from C.A.Maino Re: Location of present City Dump
2 Petition from-C. J. Weir, Jr.-- et --al Re: Location-of present City Dump
Resolution No. 962 (New Series) - A Resolution of the City Council of the
City of San Luis Obispo adopting Budget and Approving Memorandum of Agreement for Ex-
penditure of gas tax allocation for'.major city streets was passed and adopted-on motion
of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded,by Frank V.Woods upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. O.Ha11, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V. Woods
Noes: None
Absent: Kline Williams
Communication from John E. Smee, notifying the Council of the completion of
contract covering Phillips Addn. Sanitary Imp. Dist. No. 1 was read to the Council; the
matter Wag ?-field over pending final report of the City Engineer.
Petition filed by C. E. Hanshew for a 7' -- 6" fence along his property line
in Block #1, Lot 5, Tract 28, was granted on motion of Wm. O.Hall, seconded by Frank V.W
Communication from Assembly Interim Committee Re: survey and analysis of
Public Works. The City Engineer was instructed to attend the meeting to be held,inSanta
Barbara July 14th and 15th, 1950.
Communication from the City Building Inspector, Seth Kinney, submitting new
proposed form for application for City Licenses was approved by the Council on motion of
D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods,
On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods the Mayor and City Clerk
was authorized to sigh contract covering Chorro Street and Hathway Ave. Improvement.
On motion of Wm. O.Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods the Estimate.No. 6 in the
amount of $4451.60, payable to John Smee covering - payment due Phillips Addn. Sanitary
Imp.Dist No. 1 was approved and ordered paid.
Harry Jenks, Consulting Engineer, appeared before the Council and gave a
progress report on Plans and Specifications for the water filtration plant, and suggested
the Council adopt a-- Resolution applying to the State Board'of-Heelth for a permit to con-
struct the plant.

of Health'for a permit to construct a new water filt "ration plant was passed and adopted
on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by D. M. Carpenter upon the following roll call vote:

The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on
motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V.Woods, the bonds were approved, sureties
accepted and registrations granted:

The following applications for transfer of city licenses were granted,

1 - Mrs. Angie Tapia for a Dance at the I.D.E.S.Hall on July 8th

3 - Foley Burke Carnival from -July $th to 15th ( sponsored try the American Legion,
exdmpt license)
4 - Crafts Shows Carnival from July 18th -thru July 23rd
Claims against the City for the month of June were ordered paid subject to
the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
