Qn motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Wm. O.Hall, the City.Attorney was
instructed to draft a Resolution authorizing a $15.00 per month raise for all City Emplo,ree1c,
retroative as of Dec. 1, J..9501 that further, and as a part of the `:,rage increase program
that the City of San Luis Obispo enter into an appropriate Agreement with the U.S.Governme t
for the Federal Social Security program for its employees.
On motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Ti.mothir I. O'Reilly, the Departmen
of 'ublis b'Torks .!as authorized to implement the Pacific Oas and Eledtric Co. plan for
improvement. and additional street lights.

The Minutes of the meeting of December 4, 1950 were approved.
This being the time set as per advertised notice for receiving bids on
Johnson Ave. Water Storage Tank,- the following bids were received and publicly opened
and read:
1 - San Jose Steel Co. Inc. of San Jose, Calif. 7825.00
2 - Pittsburgh -Des Moinees Steel Co.. Santa Clara, $600.00
3 - Chicago - Bridge & Iron Co. of Los Angeles 8740.00
After study and review by the Council, it was moved by Wm. 0. Hall,.seconded by Kline ,
Williams, that the bid be awarded to the San Jose Steel Co. Inc. in the amount of
$7825.00 and the bid bonds and certified chrcks be returhed to the unsuccessful bidders.

Communications:
From League of California Cities Re: Special Emergency meeting of the League
at Sacramento January 3rd and 4th, 1950 on Civilian defense matters and on motion of
Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V.Woods the Mayor was authorized to attend the meeting
and take one member of the Civilian Defense Committee with him.
Communication from California State Disaster Council, thanking the Council
for approving the Civil - Defense Mutual Aid,Agreement was ordered received and filed.
Communication from Taper Tube Pole Co. ( Dual Parking Meter Co.) submitting
drawing showing revised parking lot meter plan. showing a total of 136 meters was
presented to the Council, and the City Attorney was instructed to draft Resolution
covering the Proposal made by the Dual Parking Meter Co. for the purchase of 136 parking
meters at $64.50 each installed, on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by FrankV. Woods

for appointing Committee. It was moved by Wm. O.Hall, seconded by Kline Williams that
the Mayor be appointed to represent the City of San Luis Obispo on.the committee.
Communication from Maurice W. Fitzgerald, Agent.£or the U.S. Fire Ins. Co. with
reference to values on city property for fire insurance purposes was referred to the Com-
missioner of Finance on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by D.M. Carpenter.
Communication from Mrs. Ada Shatford endorsing Retirement pension for City Employees
was ordered received and filed and the City Clerk instructed to write and inform her that
the city employees are to be covered under the Social Security program on motion of
Frank.V.Woods. seconded by Wm. O.:Hall.
Communication from J.E. Barrett, applying for refund on water line was referred to
the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to'act, on motion of Frank V. Woods,
seconded by Kline Williams.
Communication from American Institute of Park Executives Re: Park- Recreation Meeting
to be held in Fresno, January 18th, 19th and 20th, were referred-to the Commissioner of
Finance for study and report.
The report of the City Clerk for the month of November, 1950 was ordered received and
filed.--
Communication from Mrs. Leona Stenner Re: construction material-dumped in street in
front of 1020 Murray Ave. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for proper
action on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by K1iheWilliams.
The following applications for Contractor's Licenses were received and on motion of
Kline Williams, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, the bonds were approved, sureties accepted
and registration granted:

Application for city license filed by Gladys XcLinn for Mdse. ( Lamp shades and art

I. O'Reilly.
Application for Rooming House at 662 Higuera St: filed by Gladys McLinn was ordered
received and filed -= no action taken by the Council.
On' motion of Wm. O.Hall, seconded by D. M. Carpenter,the Mayor was auth6rized to sign
contract with dos Angeles Chemical Co. for chlorine purchases for the year 1951.
On motion'of Wm: 0. Hall, seconded'bv Kline Williams the Council approved the
estimates and ordered payment on contracts for,

Resolution No. 987 (New Series) - Amending Section 6 of Resolution No. 976
(New Series) adopted November 6, 1950, entitled: It Providing for the issuance of
$300,000. Principal Amount of City of San Luis Obispo Filtration Plant Bonds of 1950';
Prescribing the date and form of said bonds and of the coupons to be attached thereto;
etc., was passed and adopted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by D. M. Carpenter
upon the following roll call vote:
