Present: Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V. Woods Absent: D. M. Carpenter The minutes of the meeting of December 18th, 1950 were approved as amended. This being the time set calling for informal bids on Gasoline and Oils for the city's requirements for the year 1951, thefollowing bids were received: Shell Oil Co. J. B. Dewar Texas Co. Standard Oil Co. Signal Oil Co. Union Oil Co. Richfield Oil Co. Associated Oil Co. Seaside Oil Co. After review and study by the Council, the bids-were referred to the Commissioner of Supplies, with power to act, on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Wm..O. Hall. Communications:' - 1 - From County of San Luis Obispo requesting cancellation of taxes on Arthur L..and Martin L. Stover, property -at 1047 Palm St., acquired by the County, were ordered cancelled on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall. 2- Comm. from State of California , Dept': of Finance Re: outlining requirements for coverage for City Employees under Social Security, was referred to the City Attorney. 3 - Comm. from League of- California Cities Re: Coverage for City Employees uhder Social Security was referred to the City Attorney. 4 - Comm. from Ed Lee, applying for refund on City License was referred to the City Attorney for an opinion. The Cite Clerk was instructed to conduct an election for City Employees setting the date, Tuesday'; January 9th, 1951 as Election Day for Employees to indicate whether they wish to participate in the Federal Social Security program. Communication from S.L.O. City Schools requesting'that Agnes and Edna Streets in the City of San Luis Obispo be abandoned, was referred to the City Planning Commission for recommendation, on motion.of Kline Williams, seconded by Frank V.Woods. Claim filed by Eileen Scott in the amount of $6150.00 for damages suffered by fall on -city sidewalk, was rejected and referred to the Insurance Carrier on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Frank Woods. Copy of minutes of City Planning Commission meeting of November 16, 1950 was ordered received and filed on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Frank-V. Woods On motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Kline Williams, the Council authorized the release of bond written by The Fidelity and 'Casualty.Co. of New York covering road- work in the Hagen Subdivision, No. 1, as the work has been completed to the satisfaction of the City. The following matters were ordered received and filed on motion of Kline-Williams, seconded by Frank V. Woods: Reports . City Collector's report for the month of December, 1950 City Police Judge's Police Dept. City Treasurer's report for the month of November, 1950 Copy of Planning Commission Resolution recommending to the City Council, Re- classification of certain District. The City Clerk was instructed to publish Notice of Hearing on Proposed Amendment of Land Use ( Zoning) Ordinance on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. �a r� The'Bonds written by Peer -less Casualty Co.-covering contract work of San J Jose Steel Co. Inc. on water reservoir, were approved by the Council on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by-Timothy I. O'Reilly. Resolution No.'992.(New Series) - A Resolution authorizing the City Council to entez into an Agreement i + =ith the Southern Pacific Company regarding Sewer connections was passed and adopted on motion of Kline Williams, seconded by Timothy I.O'Reilly upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank Woods Noes: None Absent: D.M.Cgrpenter Resolution No. 993 (New Series) - A Resolution authorizing the City Council to enter into an Agreement with Cline's Electric regarding electrical installation at Johnson Ave. Booster Station was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. O.Hall., seconded by Kline Williams, upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Wm..O. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V.Woods Noes: None "Absent: D.M.Carpenter The bonds written by United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. covering. contract work of Cline's Electric on ihstallation at Johnson Ave. Booster Station were approved by the Conncil. Claims against the City for the month of December were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Old Business Resolution No. 994 (New Series) A A Resolution providing for acceptance by the City of San Luis Obispo of Proposal by the Dual Parking Meter Co. for purchase of Parking meters for parking meter lot was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I.O'Reilly, Kline Williams, Frank V. Woods Noes: None Absent: D.M.Carpenter Communication from J.E. Barrett requesting refund of $32.00 on water connection was ordered refunded on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams. The following communications were ordered received andfiled on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods: 1 - Comm. from Paul Tritenbach Re: landscaping new city hall grounds 2 - " " Chamber of Commerce requesting financial aid. It was moved by Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Wi.11iams,.that Mrs. Kohler of 1210 Beach St. be reimbursed $213.65 for work done by Smee Plumbing Co. on City sewer line. On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Kline Williams, the City Engineer was authorized to proceed on change order covering work on the Filtration Plant Contract. Communication from Donald E. Barker tendering his resignation from the San Luis Obispo Police Dept. was presented to the Council and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Kline Williams, it was moved the resignation be accepted. On motion of Frank Woods, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the following appointments were ordered: That Ed Warren be appointed temporary Police Officer as of December 29, 1950 on six months probationery period; That Wilford Ryan be appointed as Regu &ar Police Officer on six months probationery perio as of December 1, 1950.
