On motion of Kline Williams, seconded "by Wm. '0. Hall, the Department of Public Works
was authorized to purchase a 1950'Usdd Pick =up for use in the Water Department.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned on motion of Timothy I. O'Reilly,

The- minutes of the meeting of January 2, 1951 were approved.
.A Public Hearing by the City Council of the Proposed Amendment of Land Use plan
(Zoning) Ordinance was held at this time as per advertised Notice. -To written or'oral
protests were offered.
Ordinance No. 341 (New Series) - An Ordinance reclassifying as C -2 Commercial
District ( General) that, certain area of land located adjacent to where the new State
Highway meets Junction of Higuera and Marsh Streets was passed to print on motion of
Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Wm. 0. Hall, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V. Woods
Noes: None

The Council acting as a Canvassing Board now proceeded to canvass the returns of
the City Employees Federal Social Security Election held January 9, 1951. The following i

Communication from-Wm. J. Carden, 25640 Oak St. Lomita, Calif. Re: complaint on
Motel operator, identified as "Hillcrest Motel" east of San Luis Obispo in the County,
was referred to the Sheriff's Office.
Communication from Fluffy Diaper Service requesting refund on City License was r
to the City Attorney for an opinion.
Communication from the 20 -30 Club petitioning for an Exempt License for Imperial
Shows Inc. for the week of April 3rd thru April 8, 1951, was granted on motion of D.M.
Carpenter, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall.
Communication from Gerald B. Peterson submitting offer to service and maintain
police and fire radio equipment waS referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with
power to act, on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly.
Communication from the Monday Club expressing their appreciation to the Council
for work done on Andrews-Street was ordered received and filed on motion of Wm. 0. Hall,
seconded by D.M.Carpenter.
On motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the following reports were

to tke Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report.
/ Mavor O'Reilly appointed Wm. Rooney as Director of Recreation at a salary of $315.00
per month as of January 1, 1951; the appointment was approved by the Council on motion of
Frank V. Woods, =seconded by Wm. 0. Hall upon the following roll call vote:

The bond written by U.S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety, covering Faithful

Communication from Ed Lee Re: City License referred, was held over pending report from
the City Attorney.
On motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly, the Contract for
Gasoline, Oil and Petroleum Products for the year of 1951 was awarded to J. B. Dewar,
Norwalk Distributor of San Luis Obispo.

Mayor O'Reilly made the following appointments which were approved by the Council

Sid Petersen was appointed on a six months probationery period as Electrical Mainte
nance man at a salary of $300 per month, on motion of Wm.0.Hall, seconded by Frank V.Woods.
Resolution No. 995 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the execution of an
Agreement with Horace Hagen, M. D., regarding water system installed in Hagen Subdivision
was passed and adopted on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by D.M.Carpenter upon the
following roll call vote:
