Present: D.M.Carpenter, Paul 14. Davis; Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'REilly ,Frank V.Woods Absent: None The Minutes of the meetings of June bath, and June 27, 1951 were approved. (New Series) Petition filed by G. W. Raker., signed by 63 property owners and business firms along Marsh St. between Santa Rosa and Broad Streets was presented to the Council, of certain objecting and orotestina the propose-: elimination of parking along Marsh Street and the Co,.zncil reconsider thet the clearance on either side of an intersection be reduced from 1 150 ft. to 50 .ft. After discte sion, the matter was held over for further studv. Communication from Division of Highways, submitting Agreement, covering the Traffic seconded by Pau1W. Control lights along Marsh Street was also 'held over. Communication from Ceneral Services Administration, submitting supplement Agree- 1 men..t on present Veterans Administration Lease was referred to the Recreation Commission on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Paul W.Davis. Communication from S.L.O. City Schools and the Bivisi.on of Highways requesting cancellationof taxes on property acquired was granted on motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Paul W. Davis. Jeannette Taylor property ) Communication from S.L.O. Elks Lodge, filing claim for refund in the amount of $7.30 for overpayment on citysales tax was authorized, on motion of i'aul W. Davis, seconded by Fred Lucksinger. Woodsand upon the following roll call vote, that ORDINANCE NO. 346 (New Series) be rescinded ( legal description wrong) Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis,Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I.O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods Noes: None Absent: None Ordinance No. 347 (New Series) - An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo, providing for the Annexation of certain uninhabited territory to the Cit v of San Luis Obispo, and declaring this ordinance to be an emergency ordinance was passed to print on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Pau1W. Davis upon the following roll call vote; Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis; Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I.O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods Noes: None Absent: None The following applications for contractor's licenses were received and on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, the bonds were approved, sureties accepted and registration granted: - Valley Sheet Metal Works- Arroyo Grande Rossini Electrical Service - Santa Maria J 7 1 1 1 351 Application of Lionel Hampton for Dance at the Veterans 1 "iemorial Hall Monday, July 2, was granted on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Timothy I.O'Reilly. Claims against the City for the month of June, 1951 were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the heads Of the respective departments and the Mayor. Communication from Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference Re: annual mPptin ;a to be held in Salt Lake City Uah, Sept. 18th through the 21st. It was moved by D.M. Carpenter, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly that the City building Inspector be authorized to attend. On motion of Timothy I. O'Reilly, seconded by Fred Lucksinger and by common consent of the Council, O.R.Ochs & Son were granted a "change order" on the new City Hall Contract in the amount of $1680.00 on roof construction. On motion of Pail W. Davis, seconded by Timothy I•. O'Reilly, and by common consent of the Council, a change order was authorized O.R.Ochs & Son on Electrical equip- ment on the City Hall contract for X385.00 for Plectrical conduit and $88.00 for outside conduit. Leonard Len er, Chairman of the City Planning Commission, appeared before the Council requesting- $600 be budgeted in the 1951 -52 budget for Rezoning and Planning. No action taken by the Council. Mayor O'Reilly reappointed Leonard Lenger as a member of the Planning Commission as of July 1, 1451. The appointment was unanimously approved. It, was moved by D.M.Carpenter, seconded b,T Timothy I. Absent: None- The City Attorney was instructed to draft new Sales Tax Ordinance, changing sale-, Tax. from 1/2 of 1% to 110 -- Ordinance to be effective Oct. 1, 1951, on motion of Timothy I. O'Reilly, seconded by D.M.Caruenter and upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V. Woods Foes: Ppul W. Davis Absent: None On motion of D. M. Carpenter, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, the City Attorney was instructed to draft Water Ordinance, revising the minimumm rate from $1.65 to 62.00, effective Oct. 1, 1951, upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul 14.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly,Frank V.Woods Noes: None Absent: None On motion of D.M. Carpenter, seconded by Timothy I.0'Reilly, thefollouring work was approved and accepted and payment ordered paid: 1 - Eugene Jackson_ - Water Filtration Plant House Contract - Payment #2- $ 2078.55 2 - Maino Construction Co. - " " Plant Contract - Payment , #7 - 16,109.70 3 - L. E. Webb Construction Co. - Foothill ^anitary Imp. Payment No. 1 - 3,568.70 A. G. Davis, was appointed Filtration Plant Operator and Supt. at a salary of $325.00 per month and living quarters as of August 11 1951 on motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. On motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, the City Clerk was instructed to call for Bidsfor the consttuction of a Roadway on Murry Ave., from Santa- Rosa Street to Hathway Ave., bid's to be opened July 16, 1951 at 7:30 P.M. 2
