Communications from the Park, Playground and Recreation Commission requesting permission to purchase 3/4 ton Pickup Truck'for the Dept. was referred to Commissioner Davis by common consent of the Council. Communication from the Division of Highways requesting cancellationof taxes on Bertha Smith property- Part of Lot 3, Block 79, was granted on motion of Fred Lucksinger, seconded by Frank V.Woods. Communication from Jack P. Friedman of Arroyo Grande applying for application to operate a Taxicab was referred to the Commi =sioner of Public Health and Safety, Frank V. lWoods, and City Clerk to write and secure for information. Resolution No. 1090 (New Series) - A Resolution establishing Classifications, Setting Salaries therefor, Assigning City Employees to appropriate Classifications and Starting Rates Therein was passed and adopted on motion of Fred Lucksinger, seconded by Frank V.Woods upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul 111.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Frank V.Woods Noes: None Absent: Mayor Timothy I.O'Reilly This being the time set for awarding Bid on Purchase of Street Signs. The following bids were received and presented to the Council: 1 - Hundley Co. - Los Angeles, Calif. Amt. 9.05 2 - Municipal Street Sign Co. Brooklyn, N.Y. Amt. 9.15 3 - U.S.Porcelain Enamel Co. Los Angeles " 8.00 and on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, it was moved the Bid be awarded to Hundley Co. of Los Angeles at $9.05 each, and that the certified checks be returned to the unsucces =ful bidders. On motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, it was ordered that Maxine Leister be Granted 4 days vacation pay. It was moved by Paul ti's'. Davis, seconded by Frank V.Woods that Resolution No. 1090 (New Series) establishing Classification and Setting Salaries be amended covering Police Judge Classification 921 Salary Range number to Salary Range number 24 normal Hiring Range ( Step No. 1) upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Paul W. Davis,Frank V.Woods Noes: D.M.Carpenter, Fred Lucksinger Assent: Mayor Timothy I. O'Reilly Motion Lost Communication from the Executive Secretary and Fire Chief outlining the Fire Dept. Operating Schedule and manpower was presented to the Council and by common consent of the Council it was agreed to continue as outlined in the letter. The Council authorized the sale of salvage ( 1 set of four old wooden bookcases) to Martin Polin, for the amount of $13.75. Commissioner D.M.Carnenter announced the "City Clean -Up Week" from May 5th thru May 10th, 1952. Frank Reed was authorized to attend the Sewage Works Assn. Meeting at Santa Cruz, Calif. the week of April 23rd thru April 26th. Communication from the Executive Secretary, Richard Miller, Re: Vacation and Sick Leave Proposal was referred to the City Attorney with instructions to draft Proper Resolution.
