Present: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I. O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods Absent: None The minutes of the meeting of Sept. 2nd and Sept. 15th, 1952 were approved. This being the time set as per advertised Notice for receiving bids on cars for the Police and Fire Departments,- the following bids were received and publicly opened and read: 1 - Garrett Motors, submitting bid on 1952 Studebaker V -8, 120 H.P. Bid A - $ 199$.48 plus State sales tax Bid B - 2246.21 Less: 650.00 Trade allowance on 1946 De Soto 1596.21 Net, plus State sales tax 2 - E.H.Thresh, Inc., submitting bid on (3) Ford 6 cyl. Sedans ( Ford Generators) Bid A - 11ithout trade ih allowance at $1808.00 plus Sales tax $ 54.24 or a total of $ 1862.24; Bid B - 3 - 1952 Ford 6 cyl Sedans - ( Bosch Generator) at $1868.50 - plus sales tax of $56.06 or a total of $ 1924.56; with trade in allowance on three cars, Ford 6 Cyl. Sedans ( Ford Generators) Total price 3 units, $ 5586.72 Less trade in, 2435.72 Net $ 3151.00 3 Ford 6 cyl. Sedans with Bosch Generators: Total price - 3 units, 5773.68 Less trade in 2435.68 Net 3333 -38.00 After discussion and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, the bids were referred to the Commissioner of Supplies for study and report. Payment to the Trojan Construction Co. in the amount of $5039.56, balance due on Agreement dated Dec. 17, 1951 to be paid out of the Water Fund was authorized and approved on motion of Paul W.Davi s, seconded by D.M.Carpenter. Claims against the City for the month of Sept. 1952 were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. View Street - From Paramount Upholstery Shop Re: Loading zone in the 1000 Block on Broad Street The communication from the Park Playground and Recreation Commission Re: Salary adjustment for Mr. McKenzie was referred to the Commissioner of Finance on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter. The communication from H.C.Rose requesting permission to connect with city sewer system was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works on motion of Frank V.Woods, conded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. Communication from Camp Cooke requesting permission to display auto on city streets s referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion .M.Cerpenter, seconded by Fred Lucksinger. C 1 1 i 1 1 1 1 1 4 Communication from Paramount Upholstery shop notifying the city of change of business location, and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, it was ordered the transfer of location be denied and the Fire Chief to inform him of the Council's action. Communication from R.D.Baxendale inquiring about a larger water meter was re- ferred to the Commissioner of Public Works for report on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. Communication from California State Poly College Re: school owned pr6perty for new Fire house location and advising the city that the lot in question is not available, was referred to the City Planning Commission on motion of D.M.Carpenter, seconded by Frank V.Woods. Communication from Park Dept. Re: Salary classification ( Resolution No. 1090 N.S.) as it applies to Athletic Officials was referred to the Commissioner of Finance on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. Communication from Regional Water Pollution Control Board Re: Sewage lisposal System; after reviewing same by the Council and on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter, the Mayor was authorized to call the State Health Dept. and explain the city's position. Communication from Mr. Chas. Bell, owner of the Yellow and Mission Cab Co. re- questing driver's permit for Arthur Ray Bell, age 19, was denied as the City Ordinance requires minimum age of 21 years. Communication from Sam Stiefel submitting Proposal to amend present existing Agreement for rental of Sewer Farm was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer for study and report. Communication from Richard Miller, Executive Secretary, Re: expense voucher in the amount of $163.75 covering Fire Chief's expanse was approved by the Council. The following applicatiohs for Contractor's Licenses were presented to the Council and on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly, the bonds were approved, sureties accepted and registrations granted. 1 - Granite Construction Co. - Class "D "- General Contractor 2 - Ray Pool - Class "Ell - Flooring Contractor 3 - Duvual & Turner - Class "F" Lanscaping and Cement Contractor The following applications for City Licenses were granted or, motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly: 1 - American Legion Post # 66 - City License for Wrestling Matches 2 - Herbert J. Lange - City License for Nut Vending Machines The Mayor was authorized to sign Agreement with the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for extending electric line and supplying electric service by common consent of the Council, The Council.,--.granted permission to the Cal Poly Home Coming Committee for parade on Saturday, November 1, 1952 at 1:30 P.M. Communication from the Traffic Committee reporting on certain matters was presente' to the Council and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by D.M.Carpenter it was approved except Item No. 1 which was referred to the Committee for further study. Application of Al Valentine for Tattoo Studio at 934 Monterey St. was denied on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by D.M.Carpenter.
