Re: Salary schedule for Athletic Officials was approved by the Council. Comm. from Southern Pacific Co. Re: Water Agreement was ordered received and filed. Comm. from E. C. Johnson, representing the Foothill Homes, Inc. submitting Final map of Proposed Subdivision to be known as "McMillan Manor-No. 18 "together with Faithful Performance bond in the amount of $30,000 and Agreement deposit of $1500 to cover cost of inspection and payment of $586.80 for storage tank and pumping plant was presented to the Council and on m©tion of.Paul W.Davis, seconded by Frank V.Woods the Mayor was authorized to sign the Agreements and the following Resolution adopted. Resolution No. 1162 (New Series) - A Resolution approving final Subdivision Map of.Tract No. 71, McMillan Manor Tract No. 18 was passed and adopted on motion of Paul W. Davis, seconded by .Frank V.Woods upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis, Fred Lucksinger, Timothy I O'Reilly, Frank V.Woods Noes: None Absent: None There being no further business the meeting adjourned on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Timothy I. Present: D.M.Carpenter, Paul W.Davis.; Fred Lucksinger, Frank V.Woods Absent. Timothy I. O'Reilly The minutes of the meeting of Noverfber 17, 1952 were approved. First order of business: Communications: 1 - Comm. from C.A. Maimo Re: Store building located at 874 Monterey St. inwhich tie criticized the Council's action in condemning his building and further stated that his building still stands undamaged after the recent earthquake.. The communication was ordered received and filed. 2 - Comm. from the City.Attorney of Modesto asking for the Council's advice as tohow to plan a new City Hall. The communication was r.d'erred to Richard Miller for reply, with an adequate answer to their questions. 3 - Comm. from Richard Miller Re: parking situation on Morro St. from Marsh to Pismo Streets. On motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, it was moved that the recommendations submitted by the Traffic Committee, recommending no change in the present (parking conditions in view of the mixed residential character of this vicinity, was accepted. Motion carried. 4 - Comm. from the Division of Highways Re: property acquired for highway purposes was referred to the City Clerk to check and report back to the Council. 1 1 1 lJ i 5 - Comm.. from David. Ball thanking the Council for their prompt attention in the improvement of the southerly. end._ of Peach. St. was read to the Council; same was ordered received and filed. 6 - Comm. from Maurice J. Hindin, Attorney Re: housing units to be relocated and re- habilitated to Camp San Luis Obispo area for rental to Military personnel as read; same was ordered received and filed. 7 - Petition filed by George Anholm et al Re: asking Council to accept Almond Street into the City street system was presented to the Council; after discuBion the matter was re- ferred to the Com.nissioner of Public Works for study and report back to the Council, on motion of Fred Lucksinger, seconded by Frank V.Woods. Motion carried. Petition presented by Ed Atwood et al requesting time limit for parking on Morro St. in front of the Home Laundry was di scussdd at length. The placing of a green zone for a ten or fifteen minute parking was discussed and by common consent of the Council it was decided this problem should be referred to the "Traffic Committee ". The following applications for Contractorls.Licenses were received and on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, the bonds were approved, sureties accepted and registration granted: H. B. McKelvey - Class "D" - Plumbing Contractor W.E. Tunnell - Class "E" - Plastering Contractor Claims against the City for the month of November were ordered paid, subject to the approval of theheads of the respective departments and the Mayor. Report for the Police Judge for the month ofNomember was ordered received and filed. The Council approved the salary increase for Pacific Angeloni from Step #1 to Step #2 to $227.00 per month as of January 1, 1953• A group of the members of the Soroptimist Club were present at the meeting and a letter was presented by Dorothy Francis, Pres. of the Club, and read to the Council, in which they asked for a clarification of a recent announcement to the effect that a Fire station is to be located on the Santa Rosa Park Homes area, and strongly protest such an action and asked the Council to reserve this area for playground and park development as was originally intended, otherwise, then would appreciate a refund of $1039.75 which was expended on the park in the last five years for equipment and improvements etc. Com- missioner Carpenter informed the group that no definite site for thenew fire station has been decided upon, and that this matter is being considered jointly.by the Planning Com- mission and the Fire Chief, and their letter was referred to the Planning Commission. Communication f roin Gerald L. Hill and Clara L. Hill Re: protesting of an inadequate and unsafe water drain on Broad and Murray Streets was read to the Council and on motion of Frank V.Woods, seconded by Fred Lucksinger, Dept. , withpower to act. the matter was referredto the Public Works Communication addressed to G.H. Hamlin from the Division of Highways Re: Traffic Signals to be placed on Santa-Rosa St. and Foothill Blvd. was read to the Council; the City Clerk was directed to send a copy of this letter to the people who made inquiries and recommen- dations relative to the traffic condition at this intersection. At this time Mr. Frank Adler appeared before the Council with several problems, the first one being a water drainzge problem; he stated the water runs off the hill in back of his property on Johnson Avel, from the School grounds on to his property and asked the Council to do something about it, also, he reported a bad street condition which exists on Carmel Street between Pacific and Pismo St. He maintains that this is caused from tearing pp the street so many times in order to repair a leaky water main. Commissioner Carpenter informed Mr. Adler that the Public Works Dept. would look into the matter and see that can be done to correct these problems. I •J
