Present: Nels Beck, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W. Jones, Fred H. Lucksinger Absent: Paul W. Davis On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Kenneth W.Jones, the City Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids on the following projects: 1. Foothill Boulevard Paving Project, 2. Chorro Street Bridge Widening Project subject to the approval of the State of California, and preparation of plans and specifications by the City Engineer's Office. On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones, the City Engineer was authorized to prepare plans and specifications and City Clerk to advertise for bids on TORRO STREET WATERLINE from Murray Street to Foothill Boulevard. On motion of Richard E. Gragg, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones, the meeting adjourned. Approved this -ea day of A4.1 ity Clerk. City Hall, Monday, July 6, 1953 - 7:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo met in regular session; Mayor Fred H.Lucksinger presiding. Present: gels Beck, Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Absent: None The City Clerk reported the following bids were received on Phase "B" street Rehabilitation program. 1. Granite Construction Co. 2. Valley Paving Co. 3. Walter Bros. 4. Madonna Consttuction Co. 25,750.60 25,927.70 46,549.00 24,615.30 City Engineer G.H. Hamlin recommended to the Council, that after reviewing all bids that the contract be awarded to Madonna Construction Co. for $24,615.30, on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones it was moved that the contract be awarded to the Madonna Construction Co., motion carried. minutes of the meeting of June 15, 1953, June 22, and Special meeting of July 1st., 1953 were ,approved . Claims against the City for the month of July were ordered paid subject to the approval.of the heads of the respective departments and the Mayor. The application of Madam Kaye for a Palmistry License.was denied on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Nels Beck on the following roll call vote: Ayes: Nels Beck, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Noes: Paul W.Davis, Richard E. Gragg On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck that variance be granted to E.L. O'Reilly as requested subject to an agreement between the City and E.L.O'Reilly that at anytime the street is opened and improved to San Luis Drive, Mr. O'Reilly will move this buildings to conform with zoning ordinance set back. 25
