HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/23/19531 C 1 SPECIAL CALLED MEETING City Hall, Monday., November 23, 1953- 7:30 P.M. The Council met in Special Session; Mayor Fred H.Lucksinger presiding. Present: Nels Beck, Richard E. Gragg, Kenneth W. Jones, Fred H. Lucksinger . Absent: Paul W.Davis Re: Consideration by Council of city's policy of paving at curbs at the city's expense was held over to the meeting of December 7, 1953• Re: Bid of Truck Insurance Exchange of the Farmers Ins. Group, was accepted with the addition of "false arrest" coverage, on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Richard E.Gragg for $7533.67, effective December 4, 1953 to December 4, 1954. Re: Auction sale of surplus pound car - the following bid on the 1947 Chevrolet Sedan delivery ( pound truck) was received: Comet Delivery Service, by D. J. Griffin, owner - Amt. of bid ap 333.00 The Mayor then called for bids fromthe floor -- Dr. McCapes bid $334.00; there being no further bids, the bid Was awarded to Dr. 1 "cCapes and the car was sold for $334.00 cash. By common consent of the Council, all funds appropriated for the replacement of the above truck are to be transferred to the "Unallocated Reserve ". Re: The Merchandising Bond of Richard Guest was referred to the City Attorney for action on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Richard E.Gragg. The resignation of Police Officer Robert Stranahan as of December lst, 1953 was accepted on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Fred H. Lucksinger. Final Passage of Ordinance No. 3$$ (Y.S.) - ( New Business License Ordinance) was finally passed on notion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck upon the following ro call vote: Ayes: Nels Beck, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Noes: None Absent: Paul W.Davis Mayor Lucksinger thanked Mr. Emmons Blake of the Blake Printery for his fine offer of reproducing the new business license ordinance in booklet form, for the convenience of the users. Before any work is started on the Ramona Street Storm Drain, authorization of the Council will be required. At this time the City Couhcij met withthe "Citizens Off- Street Parking Committee " - Present fromthe committee were, Meryl Carpenter, chairman and Mr. Asher Shaw, member. Mr. Carpenter gave a report as to the activities of the committee, since its appointment. He also stated that the committee was studying methods of acquiring parking lots and meth of financing, etc. Much work has beer_done, but more study is needed before any action should be taker.. The Off- Street Parking Committee make the following two receommendations and one reque Recommendation No. 1: That certain down -town corner be painted greenwith a parking limit of 12 minutes. R,edommendation No. 2 That the one hour parking limit be enforced inthe down -town area. Request No. 1• That the "Off- Street" parking committee be allowed $500. to finance a.sirrvey and other 65
