Ordinance No. 396 (New Series) - An Ordinance changing the name of Ida Street to
California Blvd. was finally passed on motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Richard E.
Gragg upon the following roll call vote:
Ayes: Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger
Noes: None
Absent: Nels Beck
Ordinance No. 397 (New Series) - An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo pro-
hibiting abandonment of ice boxes and refrigerators accessible to children was finally
passed on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Paul W.Davis upon the following roll
call vote:
Ayes: Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger
Noes: None
Absent:-Nels Beck
Claim of Mrs. Gladys Higgins for accident caused by defective street was referred to
the Insurance Carrier for action on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Richard E.
Gragg.
On motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Richard E.Gragg, it was moved that the
City take advantage of the offer of the State office of Civil Defense for joint purchase
of Mobil and fixed radio equipment.
On motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Kenneth W.Jones the meeting adjourned.

The Council met in Special Session; Mayor Fred H.Lucksinger presiding.
Present: Nels Beck, Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger
Absent: None
On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Paul W.Davis, it was moved that Lt. Wm. L.Burns
of the Los Angeles Police Department be appointed CHIEF OF POLICE of the San Luis Obispo
Polim a Dept. effective March 1, 1954 at the 3rd step - .$495• per month,.without probation,
and to be considered for the 4th step on July 1, 1954, upo the following roll call vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred.H.Lucksinger
Noes: None
Absemt: None
On motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Nels Beck the meeting adjourned.
