Joes'Place - from Joseph M.Ries to Melvin Walker at $$4 No. Broad St.
The application of Wm. E. Tunnell for registration as Class "E" Contractor, to-
gether with bond in the amount of $500 received, and on motion of Richard E.Gragg,
seconded by Paul W.Davis, it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and
registration granted.
The request for an exempt license from the Disabled American Veterans for a Thrift
Store at 746 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Paul W.
Davis if there is no profit to any individual, other than the D.A.V.Chapter.
Mrs. Margaret Shaw, chairman of the Monday Club Flower Show, requested permission
to place a banner across the street at the corner of Monterey and Osos Streets, adver-
tising the flower show. Permission was granted on motion of Richard E.Gragg, seconded
by Paul W.Davis.
ne: Memorandum to change of hours of the telegraph office was ordered received and
filed.
Report of the Sidewalk Deficiency Committee recommending Proposal for maintenance
of broken and damaged sidewalks; on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Nels Beck,
the report of the Committee was accepted and the following Resolution was adopted:
Resolution No. 1327 (New Series) - A Resolution of the City Council establish-
ing policy regarding sidewalk repairs was passed and adopted on motion of Kenneth W.
Jones, seconded by Nels Beck uponthe following roll call vote:
Ayes: Nels Beck, Paul W.Davis, Richard E.Gragg, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H. Lucksinger
Noes: None
Absent: None
Mr. Quaglino asked the Council if the city required a permit to remove a tree from
the parkway before damage was done to the sidewalk area. Mr. Homer Hamlin, City Engineer,
informed Mr. Quaglino that nofbe was charged but that a permit was required.
�Zayor Lucksinger appointed the following committee, Nels Beck, Richard E.Gragg,
George Andre, Homer Hamlin and Executive Secy. Richard Miller to study and recommend a
"Tree Planting Ordinance" for the city's MASTER PLAN.
Regarding Block 5 of the Schwartz Addn. owned by the City of San Luis Obispo,
which property was requested to be deeded to the city schools by the Schcol Board.
Mr. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk - Assessor, was directed to contact Mr. Wilson of the School
Board, in attempt to trade this property for a similar piece at the Sinsheimer or Teach
School area for development as a city recreational area.
On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Paul W.Davis the following transfer of business
licenses were granted:
Clark's Mobile Service - 505 Higuera St. from Warren Clark to J.T. Jenkins
BoothBros - 1103 Higuera St. from Frank J.Booth to I.O.Compton, M.E.Arnold and J.V.Wachte .
Transfer of business location of Walter Melin from 1131 Broad St. to 678 Marsh St. for
Barber shop.
Mr. Nels Beck requested the Council for permission to leave the State for a vacati
ih the near future. By common consent of the Council, permission was granted.
On motion of Richard E.Gragg, seconded by Paul. W.Davis, refunds were authorized to
pay for clerical errors in the 1953 -54 Assessment Roll.
On motion of Paul W.Davis, seconded by Richard E.Gragg, the meeting adjourned to
Tuesday morning, May 12, 1954 at 8 A.M., upon the following roll call vote:
