Communication from Sgt. Milo Silacci of the Police Dept. submitting his resignation .
to accept an appointment with the California Highway Patrol was read and on motion of
Nels Beck, seconded by Lowell E.Christie, it was moved that the resignation of Milo
Silacci be accepted.
On motion of Lowell E.Christie, seconded by Nels Beck, it was moved to confirm the
appointment of 1m. Malmen as Sgt. in the Police Dept., effective August 1, 1955 at
$375.00 per month.
On motion of Nels Beck, secxded by Lowell E.Christie, the City Clerk was authorized
to advertise for bids when the plans and specifications are ready for phase "F" and
t'G" of the Street program and for the construction of culvert from El Centro St. to
San Luis Obispo Creek.
On motion of Lowell E.Christie, seconded by Nels Beck, the City Clerk was authorized
to mdvertise for bids for the purchase of one (1) fire truck for the City when the -
specifications are prepared.
Resolution No. 1 ( 1955 Series) - A Resolution declaring a certain portion of Chorro
Street to be a "No arking Zone" was passed and adopted on motion of Lowell E.Christie,
seconded by Fels Beck upon the followi ng roll call vote:

Aeronautics Board Re: Southwest Airways Co. Renewal Case Docket No. 6503 et al, also,
copy of letter addressed to Herbert K. Bryan, Hearing Examiner of the Civil Aeronautics
Board, and telegram which was sent to Vice Pres. Richard Nixon, Senator Knowland, Senator
Kuchel and Congressman Teague was referred to the City Attorney, William Houser who
was :instructed to attend the C.A.B. hearing in Washington D.C. to represent the city in an
attempt to have the airport in San Luis Obispo permanently certificated by the C.A.B.
Comm. from Valley Paving and Construction Co. requesting extension of time on the contract
for the Phillips Syndicate Improvement Project owing; to a strike called by members of the
Bngineers. On recom�Tendation of the City Engineer, 10 days extension of contract was

Resolution No. 2 =55 of the City Planning Commission recommending on property on a portion
of Block 12 of Old Town w as ordered held over.
Resolution No. 3 -55 of the Planning Commission of the City of San Luis Obispo recommending
unfavorable action of proposed rezoning in the vicinity of Broad and High Streets was
referred back to the Planning Commission for restudy due to charges by several o:• the pro-
perty owners present of alleged irregularitieson the PlanningCommission Resolution.
Resolution No. 4 -55 of the Planning Commission of the City of San Luis Nispo recommending
favorable action on the proposed rezoning of the C.A.Maino property at the Freeway and
P,Zarsh Street. On motion of Kenneth 'V-J.Jones, seconded by Nels Beck the City Attorney
was instructed to prepare Ordinance and notices to accompany the recommendation of the
PlanningCommission.
On motion of Lowell E.Christie, seconded by Nels Beck, G.Homer Hamlin was granted permissio
to leave the state on vacation for the period of July 25th to July 29th, 1955.
For the Council's information -- the appointment of Robert T.Eopert as temporary full time
Sr. Ene�ineering Aid, effective July 18, 1955 at $p 254.00 per month, also the appointment
of Fred H. Kauffold as Police Officer, effective July 16, 1955 at $300. per month.
On motion of Kelleth W.Jones, seconded by Warren G.Edwards, the reports of the following
city departments for the month of June, 1955 were ordered received and filed.

Resolution No. 3- 1955 Series)- Authorizing the City Engineer to make splits in the
Assessment in the Phillips Syndicate, Taylor Tract, Slack Tract project S 54 -1 was adopted
