Present: Nets Beck, Lowell E. Christie Warren G.Edwards, Kenneth W. Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Absent: None The City Clerk reported on the following Bids received and opened for the SANTA ROSA PARK DEVELOPMiENT PARKING LOTS AND PAVED PICNIC AREAS: R.McGray - 101288.80 Walter Bros. 91278.75 A.J.Diani Construction Co.-- 81976.75 Mr. Richard Miller, Administrative Officer, reported that after study he recommended that the bid of A.J.Diani Construction Co. for $8976.75 be accepted. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell E.Christie, it was moved that the recommendation of Mr. Richard Miller be accepted and that the contract be awarded to A.J. Diani Construction Co. Motion carried. Re: Report of the Traffic Committee: 55 -9 -1C (A) -- Re: Request for crossing guard at Palm and Broad St. The recommendation of the Traffic Committee is to move the crossing guard location from Chorro and Mill Streets to Chorro and Palm Street. The recommendation was adopted by common consent of the Council. 55- 10- lC- 2C- 3C -4C -- "Re: Requests for loading zones; The Committee sees no reason for a change in policy of the city in granting zones except in the case of hotels; In regard to the request. of the City Cleaners for a zone on Broad Street, the committee feels that there may be a problem here and suggested that this matter be held in abeyance. In regard to the request of the First Baptist Church for a passenger zone on Sunday only- - it was suggested that they contact the Police Dept.. in working out this problem. In regard to the request of Rileys Dept. Store for a loading zone on Marsh St. it is recommended that the request be denied at this time. On motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Kenneth W.Jones, the above recommendations were adopted Motion carried. Resolution No. 21 ( 1955 Series) - A Resolution declaring certain Street Inter- section to be Boulevard Stops was passed and adopted on motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Nels Beck upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: Nels Beck, Lowell E.Christie, Warren G.Edwards, Kenneth W.Jones, Fred H.Lucksinger Noes: None Absent: None Mr. Richard Miller , Administrative Officer, reported on the examinations and oral review that washeld on Saturday, Oct. 8, 1955 to fill the position of Superintendent of Parks and Recreation. Mr. Miller reported that he appointed Mr. Wm. E.Flory ( based on results of the examination) effective Oct. 24, 1955. Mr. Miller reported to the Council that Mr. rlory started at the 3rd step at 4 419 per month. On motion of Kenneth W.Jones, seconded by Nels Beck, the salary step of $419 per month was approved. Motion carried. Mr. Miller further recommended ( that based on examination) that Mr. Richard Morrow be appointed as Assistant Supt. of Parks and Recreation on a part time basis at 1.62 per hour, effective Oct. 1, 1955• ,69
