Claims against the City for the month of December, 1955, were ordered paid, subject to the approval of the Administrative Officer, on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell F. Christie. Resolution No. 29 (1955 Series) - Increasing the 1955 -56 Budget from the Unbudgeted Reserve to Account Numbers 208.6 and 200.17 Resolution No. 29 was passed and adopted on motion of Lowell E. Comm. from the State Department of Public V-orks regarding increase in this City's allocations of gas tar funds based on the new census figures on motion of Warren G. Mr. Miller was in- structed to prepare a new agreement with the Highway Department based on the new figures for maintenance. Request from Seth G. Kinney, Building Inspector, that two weeks of his 1955 vacation be held over until 1956 was approved on recommendation of Richard D. ?!Tiller, Administrative Officer, on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones. Request of E. Price Thompson, Water Superintendent., for holding over one week of his 1955 vacationto 1956, was approved on recommendation of Richard D. ;4iller'i Administrative Officer, on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck. Comm. from the Office of the Mayor, City of Long Beach, regarding the Allen Bill, which takes from the City of Long Beach certain of its tideland oil revenue was ordered received and filed, on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell F. Christie. Proposal of Paul L. Adamson for preparing plans and specifications for construction of additions and improvements to the City's water system for the sum of $11,400, was recom- mended by E. Price Thompson, City Water Superintendent and Richard D. Miller, Administrative Officer, that the Council accept the proposal of Mr. Adamson that the City enter into this 'agreement. Resolution No. 31 (1955 Series) - A Resolution authorizing the i°iayor to sign an agree- ment with Paul L. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie, request of Dave Ulansky, Chairman Parks and Recreation Commission, and William Flory, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, for permission to attend State of California Recreation Conference at San Diego, February 12 -15, 1955, inclusive,. was granted. Old Business The City Traffic Committee recommends that the City Council authorize a cross walk across Monterey Street to the east of Johnson. Recommendation adopted on motion of Kenneth.W. Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie. The matter of the request of a taxpayer regarding placing of additional stop signs at the corner of Chorro and Palm, the Traffic Committee recommended that after study that this request be denied. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck, the re- commendation of the Traffic Committee was granted and the request denied. Request of Sue Lee for special curb marking at her driveway, on Garden Street, was re- commendation of Traffic Committee that after studying the situation that the request for special sidewalk marking be denied, and Mr. Miller was instructed to notify Mrs. Sue Lee of the recommendation of the Traffic Committee and the proposal that she enlarge her driveway to 14 feet. Recommendation of Traffic Committee adopted on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Warren G. Edwards. . Request of the Traffic Committee relative to placing limited parking on the parking lot at the City Hall was adopted on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck. Mr. Houser, City Attorne;r, .,ras instructed to prepare an ordinance amending Municipal Code Sections 3200.5, 3200.6, and 3200.7. The request of Peter R. Andre, Legal Advisor of the San Luis Obispo County Historical Society, regarding special parking privileges at the County Historical building was referred to the Traffic Committee for study and report to the Council. Communication from Ben Hughes, owner of the Fremont Court, requesting additional parking spaces for his tenants at::Toro and Hathway Streets, which is now painted red, was referred to the Traffic Committee for study and report to the Council. By common consent of the Council the Traffic Committee was instructed to study the correct spacing for cross hatching the proper parking spaces in the downtown area of the City. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie, the City Engineer was authorized to request P. G. & L. to prepare installation of street lights in the McMillan tract. The City Engineer was also authorized to request P. G. & E. to install street lights in the westerly end of the 200 block on Ramona Drive, also a street lamp installation for the alley connecting Broad and Nipomo between Buchon and Islay Streets. The matter of the proposed standby engine at Cuesta Booster Pumping Plant was ordered held over. The request of R. R. Duncan for portion of Third and Toro Street, owned by the City was 89
