Jones recommended to the Council that in the future it might be possible that local accountants be allowed to bid on the city auditing work. Request of the San Luis Obispo City Schools requesting cancellation of city taxes on property purchased for school system was ordered held over. Mr. Richard D. Miller, Administrative Officer, retorted to the Council regarding the request for financi al aid from the City of San. Luis Obispo for the Chamber of Commerce in placing a powerline down the main streets in the business section to hang Christmas lights and decorations. Mr. Miller reported that the City agreed to help the chamber in this project to one -third of the cost or $1900.00, which ever is cheaper. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie the Administrative Officer's recommendation was adopted. Mr. Seth G. Kinney, Building Inspector, reported on his investigation of a termite infested sycamore tree which was requested to be abated by the city by Miss Salisbury. Mr. Kinney reported that no city ordinances or state laws appeared to be in violation, but that possibly the owner could be persuaded to have the tree treated to eliminate the termites or have the tree removed. By common consent of the Council the City Attorney was requested to write al letter to the property owners regarding the abatement of this problem. The Fire Protection Report on fire fighting facilities of the City of San Luis Obispo by the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific was ordered received and filed. Introduction of Resolution No. 138 (1956 Series) A Resolution Declaring the Intention of Council of the City of San Luis Obispo to Initiate on its own Motion Proceedings to Annex Certain Uninhabited Territory, Hereinafter Described and Designated as "Laguna Property" the City of San Luis Obispo; and Authorizing and Directing the City Clerk to.File such Proposal with, and Submit such Proposal to the Boundary Commission of the County of San Luis Obispo, State of California, for a Report Thereon as Required by Law was passed and adopted on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Nels Beck, Lowell E. Christie, Warren G. Edwards, Kenneth W. Jones, Fred H. Lucksi NOES: None ABSENT: None Request of Councilman Lowell Christie regarding the posting of a "No Trespassing" sign at Reservoir No. 2. Price Thompson, Water Superintendent, reported that "No Trespassing" signs are not adequatE unless the area is patroled to evict violators. Mr. Thompson stated that a seven foot wirE fence should be installed and that his master plan calls for fencing of this area. He further reported that he is putting money away each year in his budget for this fence. Mr. Wm. C. Sodeman attended the meeting representing the Chamber of Commerce. On motion of Lowell E. Christie, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones, the meeting adjourned. Approved this day of 1956.
