HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/16/1957Mr. Joe Warnagieris, Realtor, protested to the Council on behalf of the forgotten man, the taxpayer, and he asked that the Council not spend money from the general taxes for improvement of sewers or for special areas without having those areas pay their own way. There being no further protest, Mayor Lucksinger stated that the Council would immediately start studying the protests with the Engineers and Attorneys, which would adjudicate the protests and other problems brought up at this meeting. On motion of Kenneth `AT. Jones, seconded by Lowell E. Christie, the public hearing was continued to April 22, 1957 at 7:30 P.M. Comm. from Frances H. The Council reviewed the tally sheets for the 21 precincts for the Municipal Election in- side the City and the 6 precincts outside the City for members of the Board of Education. The results of the tally showed a few mistakes as follows: In Precinct No. 9 - The Council found one mistake: one vote less for James M. McGrath making his total 183. Also in Precinct No. 9, a transposition of figures on the Whale Rock Bond Issue gave the "No" vote 101 instead of 131 as reported on the unofficial tally. In Precinct No. 20 - A transposition of figures on the unofficial tally gave Mr. James M. McGrath a total of 102 votes and the total was actually 182. In Precinct Nos. 11 and 19 - Two errors were made on the tally sheets in that the two tallys did not agree with regard to the total vote for James M. McGrath in Precinct No. 11 and for W. E. Stewart in Precinct No. 19, but after review by the City Attorney and at his recommendation that either way would make no difference in the total votes cast, the unofficial cast was made official on motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Nels Beck. At this time the City Clerk, J. H. Fitzpatrick, certified to the City Council the results of the Municipal Election held April 0, 1957 as follows: Whole number of votes cast in the City Whole number of votes cast outside the City Tabulation of votes by person and measure For Ma,ror : For Council: School Directors: Water Bond Issue: Fred H.
