At this time the City Council sat as an Election Board to canvass the votes of the
election held April 14, 1959..
The Council reviewed the tally sheets for the 21 precincts of the municipal election
inside the City and the 7 precincts outside the City for the members:of the Board
of Education.
The results of the tally showed the following errors made by precinct officers:
Precinct 16 - Dan Law, Board of Education - 119 votes whichhad been reported as
19.

These were the only errors found by the Board, and upon review by the City Attorney,

Upon instruction by Mayor Lucksinger, the City Clerk read each absent voter's name
prior to the identification envelope being opened by the Mayor, and deposited '
in the ballot box, so that any challenges could be-made at'that time before the
envelopes were opened.
Councilman Beck, Sleight and Jones compared the identification envelopes with the
absent voter's applications, in order to verify that the signatures were the same.
After all absentee ballots were deposited in the ballot box, Mayor Lucksinger
asked the Council if all the signatures on the envelopes and application forms
agreed. The answer was affirmative.
The Mayor then unlocked the ballot box, and with Councilman Beck and Sleight tally-
ing the votes, Mayor Lucksinger proceeded to read off the absent voter's ballots.
