SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
February 9, 1960 - 12 Noon

The City Council met in special called meeting.with Mayor Fred M. Waters
presiding.
ROLL CALL: Present - Kenneth W. Jones, Donald Q. Miller, Gerald W. Shipsey,
J. Barry Smith, Fred M. Waters
Absent - None
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Administrative Officer Richard D. Miller and
City Clerk J. H. Fitzpatrick

.1. The City Council discussed the salary survey.as prepared by Administrative
.� Officer Miller for consideration in the 1960 -61 budget.

C": Administrative Officer Miller explained the various steps taken by him
in developing the salary survey. He reported that at the present time
there were 118 full -time employees working for the City.
The City Council discussed at length the various proposals in the
salary survey and Councilman Miller recommended to Administrative
Officer Miller that the salary range for Junior Librarian be advanced
from range 20 to 22 and that the range for Senior Librarian be raised
from 22 to 24. He recommended these changes in order that the City
could employ qualified personnel in the junior rating to be Children's
Librarian.
After explanation of the situation, the Council agreed with Adminis-
trative Officer Miller that a better alternative would be to recruit
for the present vacancy of Children's Librarian at the Senior Librarian
range with no change in the library ranges.
By common consent of the Council, Administrative Officer Miller was
instructed to use the proposed new salary schedule in preparing the
1960 -61 budget.
On motion of Gerald W. Shipsey, seconded by Donald Q.. Miller, the meeting
adjourned at 1:30 PM.
