budget of State expenditures of State.allocated funds for the 1961 -62 year.
23. Mr. Romero, City Engineer, presented plans and specifications for the
Council's consideration for reconstruction of California Boulevard from
Higuera Street to Phillips Lane. Mr. Romero requested that the City Council
approve the plans and specifications subject to the approval of the State
Division of Highways for use of gas tax money. Mr. Romero stated the
project is estimated to cost $12,000. Request approved on motion of Coun-
cilman Graves, seconded by Councilman Shipsey.
6. City Council adjourned to the conference room to discuss litigations on
the condemnation of the Maino property on Broad Street for street widening.
On motion of Councilman Shipsey, seconded by Councilman Miller, the meeting.
adjourned to Tuesday, June 20, 1961, to continue the study of the 196162

1. Mayor Davidson brought up the matter of the proposal of the State Senator
and a group from Paso Robles to construct highway 33 from Paso Robles to
Cambria as a priority over other projects already listed by the Cities
and highway groups within the County.
The City Council discussed this matter and on motion of Councilman Miller,
seconded by Councilwoman McNeil, the Mayor was authorized to go to Sacra-
mento and represent the City before the Highway Commission regarding State
Route 33, Paso Robles to Cambria, with necessary expenses to be paid for
by the City. In this connection, the Council concurred with the Mayor's
position that a new project such as the one being proposed should not be
placed ahead of other projects of long standing priority.
2. The City Council proceeded to continue its study of the 1961 -62 Budget.
3. The City Council again discussed the matter of the acquisition of the Maino
Construction Company project of Broad'Street by condemnation in view of
the City's present financial situation. It was moved by Councilman Shipsey,
seconded by Councilwoman McNeil, that the City drop the condemnation pro-
ceedings against the Maino property. Motion passed on the following roll
call vote:
AYES: Miss Margaret McNeil, Gerald W. Shipsey, Clay P. Davidson.
NOES: Donald Q. Miller.
ABSENT: R. L. Graves, Jr.
