Graves, Jr., Donald Q. Miller, Gerald W. Shipsey, Clay P. Davidson City Staff Present: R. D. Miller, Administrative Officer; David F. Romero, City , Engineer; E. P. Thomspon, Water Supt.; J. H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk. Steering Committee present: Fred. M. Waters, J. G. Middleton, Howard Newby, Ed Atkinson, Mrs..Harrison Eilers 1. City Council discussed recommendation of the Traffic Committee on request of the Blue Bell Motel on south Higuera Street to place directional signals adjacent to 101 freeway to� direct motorists to the south Higuera Motel district. After discussion and motion of Councilman Shipsey, seconded by Councilman Graves, the City Engineer was ordered to procure a motel sign with an arrow and placing it in the vicinity of Prodo Road and 101 freeway on the City owned sewer property. 2. Mayor Davidson opened discussion with the Steering Committee regarding action being taken and planned by the Committee for advertising the sewer and water bond issues and publicity for the up coming general election and also what steps were being taken to get voters out and support the issues. R. D. Miller, Administrative.Officer brought up seven points for the water and sewer bonds and comments regarding the apparent inactivity and apathy regarding the bond issue. Dr. Middleton, Steering Committee Financial Chairman discussed the problems of raising money donations for advertising material. Fred Waters, Chairman stated that he believed that the best way to sell the program was to wait until the last week or 10 days and then put on an advertising drive at that time. Mr. Waters continued that the Committee is planning newspaper, radio and T.V. coverage both on free time and editorial, news articles, etc., and then paid news spots for ads on the radio, T.V. and newspaper. The City Council and Steering Committee discussed various methods of promoting both issues and getting facts to the electorates for their support and the group decided to prepare a fact sheet to be distributed on a door to door basis and also attempt °to have prominant citizens cut tapes for radio broadcasts supporting both issues. On motion of Councilman Shipsey, seconded by Councilman Graves, the meeting adjourned to Tuesday, May 15, 1962 at 7:30 P.M. Motion carried. Approved this,ji62N day o 19" iv Clerl�'
