"After talking with Councilman Graves, he agreed.with.me.that the.City should allow the sidewalk to be placed according to City.standards :and further follow the present tree planting policy established by the Council in 1955. This is, if it can be shown - th& present trees are or:;will damage the street and curb, the City.would remove the trees and provide new trees. The - property owner.to plant the new trees. —I-bring-this to the Council for further discussion.!! , The.City:Council -discussed the proposal from Councilman Miller regarding the above ' - and decided to wait until the City had-reached an agreement with the property owners including the placement of sidewalk along both Center Street and Lincoln Avenue, removal of the. present trees by the City and,the_City: supplying approved trees with the property owner to plant them. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Whelchel, that if the Gazins' place sidewalk on Lincoln and Center, .the :City would remove existing trees and the City would supply approved trees fifteen-(15) gallon size, one for..each tree removed, with the Gazins' to plant the trees at their expense. Motion carried. 31. Communication from Councilman Donald Q. Miller regarding meeting between the Water Superintendent, E. P. Thompson, and the City Council to discuss requirement of all CD new water lines as.to size, etc,, was ordered held over to the meeting of September 11 O 1963. Councilman Miller left the meeting at 11:15 P. M. 32. Communication from LaVerne Bucy, Secretary of the Central Church of Christ, regarding curb, gutter, and sidewalk for their new building on Johnson Avenue, was referred to the City Attorney to see if ,the City Council can reimburse this property owner.;<_?:i 33. The City Engineer presented for the Council's action Change Order #9 for the Sewage Treatment.Plant Enlargement. Project, which consists of an extension of the plant effluent line which is the extension of the thirty (30) inch reinforced concrete pipe effluent line. D. F. Romero, City Engineer, estimated the cost of this Change Order at $7,783.00.
