MINUTES
ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
14ay 31, 1968 - 11:30 A.M.
CITY HALL
Present: Emmons Blake, Frank Gallagher, Arthur F. Spring,
Donald Q. Miller, Clell W. Whelchel .
Present: J. H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk; R. D. Miller, Administrative
Officer.
1. The City Council continued their discussion with representatives of the CEA,
P. Landell and D. Sylvia to discuss working conditions,.salaries, etc., as proposed
by the CEA.
R.- D. Miller, Administrative Officer, presented his recommended salary adjustments
for City employees for the fiscal year 1968/69.
P. Landell, President of the CEA, explained that the CEA request was requesting
approximately a 12% increase -in City employees' salaries to not only bring the
salaries currently up to what other comparative Cities are paying but to bring it
up to what other Cities-will-be paying come July 1968. -
The City Council discussed the salaries and vacation benefits recommended by the
CEA and also the salary recommendations of the Administrative Officer.
The City Council discussed with the Administrative Officer his recommendations for
salary adjustments for the 1968/69 fiscal year.
On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Blake, that the Director of .
Planning and Building salary be increased by one half step. Motion carried.
On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Blake, that the Department
Heads salaries not including Director of Planning and Building, be increased by
two one half steps. Motion carried. Councilman Spring and Councilman Gallagher
voting no.
On motion of Councilman Spring, seconded by Councilman Miller, that the .City
Attorney salary be increased to $1,437 per month effective July 1, 1968. Motion
carried.
On motion of Councilman Blake, seconded by Councilman Gallagher, the City Council
accept the balance of the Administrative Officer recommendations for salary
adjustments. Motion:carried. Councilman Miller voting no.
On motion of Councilman Spring;-seconded by Councilman Gallagher, the Administrative
Officer and City Clerk salaries were increased by two one half steps as other
Department Heads. Motion carried. Councilman Miller voting no.
2.- On motion of Councilman Spring, seconded by Councilman Gallagher, the meeting
adjourned to Wednesday, June 5,- 1968 :at 11:30 A.M. Motion carried.
