Miller, Administrative Officer, discussed with the City Council the ac guisition of furniture for the new police facility and stated that it has been past Council policy to try and purchase all required furniture from the local General Fireproofing Companyp He stated that E. Rodgers, Police Chief, felt that he could acquire more furniture for'the money through prison industries than through General Fireproofing and asked the City Council to consider this alternate. R. D. Miller was requested by the City Council to have the Police Chief prepare a list of the needed furniture for each office and prices from prison industries. R. D. Miller announced that on June 11, 1969 a public hearing would be held by the Board of Supervisors on the formation of a sanitary control district in the San Luis Creek area and requested that D. F. Romero, City "Engineer, be instructed to attend and represent the City. 5. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Blake, the following resolution was introduced. Resolution No. 1953, a resolution opposing. Senate Bill 994 regarding neighborhood park dedications. Passed and adopted on the following roll call vote: AYES: Emmons Blake, Myron Graham, Arthur F. Spring., Donald Q. Miller, Kenneth E. Schwartz NOES: None ABSENT: None 6. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Graham, the following Salary Step increase was approved, effective May 1, 19 9. Motion carried. White, Harold M. - Police Officer From Step 2 or $617 to Step 3 or $652 7. H. Johnson, City Attorney, reported to the City Council on the acquisition of land for the South Street Park, stating that the Nelson Estate has refused the City's offer of $60,000 and presented a counter offer of $120,800. He stated that it was his opinion that the difference in price was so great that the City should notify the federal government that they can not proceed with the develop- ment and cancel the proposed grant. Councilman Miller stated that he felt the City should proceed immediately with condemnation of this land for a park and the City Attorney should be authorized to procure an additional appraisal as soon as possible. On motion of Councilman ML11er, seconded by Councilman Spring, the City Attorney was instructed to hire an appraiser for the South Street Park. R. D. Young Planning Director, was instructed to write to HUD notifying them that the City cannot proceed with the cooperative agreement at the present time. 8. R. D. Miller, Administrative Officer, reviewed for the City Council the es- timated revenue for the 1969 -70 fiscal year and his recommendations for the pro- posed budget. At this time the City Council began the study of the proposed City Budget for 1969 -70, starting with page 1 to page 13 inclusive.
