ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

1. Mr. George Smith, President, Smith Transportation Company, Santa Maria,
and one of the founders of the Santa Maria Developers Association, which spear-
headed the industrial development of Santa Maria Valley; met with the City
Council to discuss possible ways and means -of attracting and encouraging
industrial development in San Luis Obispo and vicinity. Mr. Smith explained
methods used by the Santa Maria Developers Association to promote high grade
industrial development in the Santa Maria Valley. He explained the benefits
that this development has brought to'the community of Santa Maria and the
people living in and around Santa Maria Valley. He'then discussed with the
Council things he felt could be done by the people of Sari Luis Obispo to en-
courage industrial development in this area. He offered any help he could
give the Council to bring high grade industrial development to San Luis Obispo.
Mayor Schwartz thanked R1r. Smith for meeting with'the City Council and dis-
cussing with them the things that were done in Santa Maria to'develop an
industrial park near the airport and other areas of the community.
On motion of Councilman Blake seconded by Councilman Miller the meeting was
adjourned.
