ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

1. Mayor Schwartz stated that the purpose of the meeting was to seat
the newly elected Council,.and to thank retiring Councilman Brown for a good
job to the citizens of San Luis Obispo for eight years on the Planning Com-
mission and four years on the City Council.
Councilman Brown made a brief statement on his service to the City, thanking
the nice people of San Luis Obispo for allowing him to serve them and thanking
his fellow Councilmen for their cooperation.
Mayor Schwartz presented Councilman Brown with several gifts from the City
Council to thank him for his service to the City.
Mayor Schwartz declared a recess at 12:10 p.m.
At this time J.H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk, administered the oath of office
to recently elected Mayor Schwartz, Councilman Gurnee and Councilman Petterson.
The meeting reconvened at 12:15 p.m.

ABSENT: None
Mayor Schwartz thanked the people of San Luis Obispo for again returning him
to office and pledged to do all .in his power•to serve all the people of the
City.
Councilman Gurnee thanked the people of San Luis Obispo for returning him to
office and promised to continue to-do the best job he could on their behalf.
Councilman Petterson also thanked the people of San Luis Obispo for electing
him to office. He also thanked his supporters for their help in his election
' and stated that he was coming on.the Council without any predetermined
program and would look at each matter that came before the Council as fairly
as possible.' He also stated that he was looking forward to working with his
fellow Councilmen to make San Luis.Obispo a better place to work-and live.
At this time the City Council considered the election of a Vice Mayor for
the City Council..

Mayor Schwartz nominated Councilman Graham to be Vice Mayor, Councilman
Norris seconded the nomination and upon unanimous vote, Councilman Graham
was elected Vice.Mayor.
2. There being no further business to come before the Council, the
meeting adjourned at 12:40•p.m.

1. Jack B. Jones, Major, Civil Affairs, USAR, Operations Officer-for
the 425th Civil Affairs Company, presented -the City Council with an area survey
conducted by them during thiss past summer, 1974, on a survey made-of the.
City of San Luis Obispo-and its.environs.. They also asked permission of the
City Council for a two -day, follow -up session on August 29 and September 2,
1975.
.On motion of Councilman Graham,:seconded-by Councilman Norris that the request
for further training of the 425th CA Company be approved. Motion carried, all
ayes.
2. At this time the City Council:considered the FINAL PASSAGE of
ORDINANCE NO. 637, an ordinance of the City of-San Luis Obispo prohibiting
recreational use of engine- powered.vehicl'es upon unimproved private prop -
erty; providing for the impoundiuent-of.said vehicles;.and supporting the
establishment of areas for-such recreational uses.
A.J. Shaw, City Attorney, again reviewed the proposed revisions in the
ordinance for the:Council's information.
