SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

Council Members
Present: Council Members John Ashbaugh, Andrew Carter and Kathy Smith, Vice
Mayor Dan Carpenter and Mayor Marx
City Staff
Present: Katie Lichtig, City Manager, Christine Dietrick, City Attorney, Michael
Codron, Assistant City Manager, and Maeve Kennedy Grimes, City Clerk,
were present at Roll Call. Other staff members presented reports or
responded to questions as indicated in the minutes.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Vice Mayor Carpenter led the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT – ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Eric Meyer, San Luis Obispo, spoke about the SLO County Bicycle Coalition, and
Benchmark report on bicycling and walking in the United States.

Smith to approve recommendations for item C1.

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 10410 (2012 Series) declaring the
results of the November 6, 2012, General Municipal Election.
ACTION: Approved by Consent Calendar Vote.
PRESENTATIONS
PRESENTATION TO VICE MAYOR DAN CARPENTER — (MARX — 10 MINUTES)
Mayor Marx thanked Vice Mayor Carpenter for his service as Vice Mayor during
2012 and presented him with a token of appreciation. Vice Mayor Carpenter
expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve the City.
APPOINTMENT

The City Clerk administered the Oaths of Office for the Mayor Marx and Council
Members Carpenter and Ashbaugh.
A2. VICE MAYOR APPOINTMENT FOR 2013. (CODRON /KENNEDY GRIMES —10
MINUTES)
ACTION: Motion by Vice Mayor Carpenter / Council Member Carter to
appoint Council Member Kathy Smith as Vice Mayor to serve a one -year term
commencing upon appointment.
Roll Call Vote: 6:0 Motion Carried.

There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Marx adjourned
the meeting at 3:30 p.m.
