CALL TO ORDER
A Special Meeting of the San Luis Obispo City Council was called to order on
Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Hearing Room, located
at 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California, by Mayor Manx.

Present: Council Members John Ashbaugh, Dan Carpenter, Kathy Smith,
Vice Mayor Carlyn Christianson, and Mayor Jan Marx

City Staff
Present: Katie Lichtig, City Manager, Christine Dietrick, City Attorney, Lee
Johnson, Economic Development Manager, Bob Hill, Natural
Resources Manager, and Anthony Mejia, City Clerk, were present
at Roll Call.
CLOSED SESSION
City Attorney Dietrick requested a Closed Session to discuss the items listed on
the Closed Session agenda.

PUBLIC COMMENT ON CLOSED SESSION ITEM
Carol Florence, Oasis. Associates, representing Matt Quaglino, distributed a letter
from Rollie McCormick, dated June 3, 2014, concerning the possibility of
appraising city -owned property located at the corner of Higuera and Nipomo
Streets; voiced concern that the Council may issue a Request for Proposals
rather than acting under the existing Exclusive Negotiation Agreement.
Matt Quaglino, Applicant, pointed out that he is willing to accept the risk
associated with the project; urged Council to take action so he can proceed. In
response to Council inquiry, Mr. Quaglino advised that he is proposing to
purchase the City -owned property.
Carla Saunders, San Luis Obispo, voiced support for the acquisition of open
space; noted that community surveys indicate that open space preservation is
highly supported by residents and business owners.
REPORT FROM CLOSED SESSION
City Manager Lichtig advised that Council took no reportable action.
ADJOURNMENT
' The City Council adjourned at 7:10 p.m. The next Regular Meeting is scheduled
for Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at
990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California.
