Santa Rosa :Park Joint Meeting City Council and Park and Recreation Commission Pledge RnII rAII Present: Councilmen John C. Brown, Myron Graham, T. Keith Gurnee, Jesse E. Norris and Mayor Kenneth E. Schwartz Absent: None City Staff Present: David Williamson, Assistant Administrative Officer; J. H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk; R. D. Miller, City Administrative Officer; A. J.. Shaw, Jr., City Attorney PARK, AND RECREATION COMMISSION: Present: Donald J. VanHarreveld, Chairman; Beatrice A. Kardel; Jo Ann Jennings; Robert H. Janssen; Woody Frey; Jon Silverman Absent: James Webb Staff Present: William Flory, Parks and Recreation Director; J. Stockton; L. Wilson and Alamo I. The party left Santa Rosa Park for an inspection tour of the following City park and recreational facilities: A. Laguna Lake Park B. Meadow Park C. Sinsheimer Park At each facility, William Flory, Parks and Recreational Director, reviewed the improvements to date and plans for future develop- ment. While at Sinsheimer Park, the City Council, Park and Recreation Commission and Staff spent a few minutes watching one of the base- ball games, part of a week long Babe Ruth League, Pacific Southwest Tournament with teams from all the Western States and the Country of Mexico. The group then proceeded to the recreation building for continuation of the Joint Meeting. Councilman Gurnee and Commissionar Janssen did not attend that portion of the meeting at the recreation building. William Flory, Director of Parks and Recreation reviewed the pre- liminary Master Plan for Sinsheimer Park being prepared by the consulting firm -of Wilsey and Ham. Patrick Gerety, Associate Planner, reviewed the plans and specifications for the Phase III Development of Meadow Park. He estimated the cost of construction to be $52,000.00. The City Council and Park and Recreation Commission discussed the development of Meadow Park under Phase III. City Council Minutes August 8, 1973 Page 2 It was moved by Woodv Frey, seconded by Jon Silverman, that the Park and Recreation Commission approve the Plans and Specifications for Phase II of Me.adow Park and.recommend .to.the City Council that they authorize the call for bids. Motion carried. AYES: Frey, Silverman, Kardel, Jennings, VanHarreveld NOES: None ABSENT.: ..Robert H. Janssen and.James Webb James Stockton, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, then presented the 1971/72 annual reports of the Park and Recreation Department. He then showed a slide program of the recreational program for the year 1973. The Mayor.and Councilmen present thanked the Park and Recreation Commission and Staff for their report on existing and proposed programs and also on the .tour of the City's facilities which they felt was good for Council information. The City.Council adjourned to the.Ci.ty..Hall at 9:15 R.M. The City Council reconvened at 9:30 P.M. at the City Hall Conference Room with the following Councilmen: Present: John C. Brown, Myron Graham, Kenneth E. Schwartz Absent: T. Keith Gurnee,and.Jesse E. Norris - The City Council then discussed the recommendation of the Pares: and Recreation Commission, approving the plans and specifications for Meadow Park, Phase III. Patrick Gerety,.Associate Planner, again presented the cost estimate for Meadow Park, Phase III construction as follows: Construction $ 52,000.00 - Grading Phase II 2,000.00 Lighting & Restrooms 15,400.00 $ 69,400.00 On motion of Councilman John C. Brown, seconded by Myron Graham that the Plans and Specifications be'appm ved and that the Planning Department be authorized to call for bids. Motion carried.
