CONFERENCE ROOM, CITY HALL SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA Roll Call J Councilmen PRESENT: Myron Graham, Jesse Norris, Steve Petterson and Mayor Kenneth E. Schwartz ABSENT: T. Keith Gurnee City Staff PRESENT: J.H. Fitzpatrick, Acting Administrative Officer /City Clerk; R. Muravez, Finance Director; Henry Marquez, Special Assistant to the City Administrator Promotional Coordinating Committee:. PRESENT: Homer Odom, Ronald Dunin, Don Patrick, Sally Punches, Robert Leitcher, and Art Willard 1. The request of the merchants on Higuera Street between Garden Street and Nipomo Street to hold a sidewalk sale on Saturday, June 5, 1976, was approved on motion of Councilman Petterson, seconded by Councilman Norris. 2. The Promotional Coordinating Committee discussed with the City Council, the long -range plan proposed for the committee with the two main community development goals as outlined in the general plan: 1) To maintain San Luis Obispo as the trading center for-the County and to provide increased shopping and employment for the citizens of the community in the retailing sector; and 2) To encourage the growth of tourism in San Luis Obispo for the purpose of providing economic diversity. The long -range plan of the Promotional Coordinating Committee was designed primarily to aid these community development goals. However, the committee has also been charged with improving the quality of life for the citizens of San Luis Obispo and that charge was also incorporated into the development plan. The committee then reviewed for the City Council, their direct media advertising plan, their facilities proposal, their activity grants, publications, promotion and funds for research. The City Council discussed with the Promotional Coordinating Committee members present, some of the proposals submitted in their long -range plan. The City Council thanked the Promotional Coordinating Committee for their presentation and stated they were looking forward to the receipt of their budget in line with their long -range plan. 1:40 p.m., the Promotional Coordinating Committee members left the meeting. 1:45 p.m., Councilman Norris left the meeting. 3. At this time the City Council considered an interim report on the Information Permit Center, one of the key programs of the reorganized Community Development Department. City Council Minutes May 19, 1976 Page 2 Mr. Henry Marquez, Special Administrative Aide, reviewed for the City Council, studies to date in attempting to proceed with the Information Permit Center concept in the Community Development Department. 2:00 p.m., Councilman Graham left the meeting. 4.
