HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/09/1989City Council Minutes Tuesday, May 9, 1989 - 7:00 p.m. Page 2 City Staff Present: John Dunn, Administrative Officer; Pam Voges, City Clerk; Michael Multari, Community Development Director; Dave Romero, Public Works Director; Jim Gardiner, Police Chief; Wayne Peterson, City Engineer; Terry Sanville, Principal Planner; Vicki Finucane, Acting City Attorney; Bill Hetland, Utilities Director; Nancy Knoffler, Transit Manager; Barbara Lynch, Traffic Engineer PUBLIC COMMENT Staff was directed to respond to Mr. Dan Stubbs, 1691 Tanglewood, regarding why the city continues to advertise through its Visitors and Information Bureau for the tourist trade when the city is facing a water drought. 1. CIRCULATION ELEMENT (File No. 462) Council continued its consideration and review of Section VI of the Phase I Circulation Element, beginning on page VI -3; "Neighborhood Traffic ". (continued from 3/6/89 and 4/11/89). Council then went page by page through the goals and objectives of the Circulation Element making suggestions on each (please see File No. 462 for specific amendments). Mayor Dunin asked for public comment. Janet Kourakis stated that she felt a better transit system with more localized central drop -off points would be required if people were to begin taking alternative modes of transportation. Don Smith urged the council to look at other types of busses besides diesel. 9:00 p.m.; Mayor Dunin adjourned the meeting to closed session, to discuss litigation matters. 9:35 p.m.; there being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Dunin adjourned the meeting to Monday, May 15, 1989, at 12:10 p.m. r J APPROVED BY COUNCIL: 6/6/89 PV:nlo /kal P Voges, Cito Clerk 1 419
