For the last decade our city's elected officials have listened to distant special interests' calls for favors. Our town image as a quaint historic town on the mission trail with its SLO lifestyle is transforming into the picture of anywhere town. Under the influence of outsiders with more money than sense are taking over the town we have long loved and transforming it into their program. We have lost local control of our destiny with the state calling the shots. The state government even wants to divert funds that should go to cities to solve its run away financial troubles.. Having experienced over four decades of living in San Luis Obispo and operating an artisan welding service in the same block for thirty years, I have participated in making SLO a better piece of paradise. In the mid seventies I gained public meeting skills in local organizations which included being the treasurer of the Economic Opportunity Commission in 1975.
