HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1601 Amend Municipal Code Ch 2 04 Council Meeting TimesORDINANCE NO. 1601 (2014 Series) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.04 (COUNCIL MEETING) TO MODIFY REGULAR MEETING TIMES WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council held on May 20, 2014, the Council reviewed its Council Policies and Procedures and provided direction to revise certain provisions of that manual; and WHEREAS, Council desires to amend its regular meeting schedule (that was formerly established by Ordinance No. 1580) to provide that Closed Sessions will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. and the Business Meeting shall commence at 6:00 p.m.; and WHEREAS, San Luis Obispo Charter Section 502 requires that the Council shall provide by ordinance for the time and place of holding its meetings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2.04.010 of Chapter 2.04 (COUNCIL MEETINGS) of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby amended and re- enacted in full to read as follows: 2.04.010 Time — Place. The regular business meetings of the council shall be held at the City Hall, 990 Palm Street, in the city, on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the hour of six p.m. (6:00 p.m.). Regular closed session meetings of the council shall be held at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, in the city, on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the hour of five p.m. (5:00 p.m.) or at such other time as may be designated on the same agenda giving notice of the business meeting posted at the same time and in the same manner as regular business meeting notice. In the event that a regular meeting of the council falls on a legal holiday, then the regular meeting shall be held at the same place and time on the next succeeding working day. (Prior code § 2100) SECTION 2. Ordinance Number 1580 (2012 Series) is hereby superseded to the extent inconsistent herewith. SECTION 3. A summary of this ordinance, together with the names of Council members voting for and against, shall be published at least five (5) days prior to its final passage, in The Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in this City.
