AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
ADDING CHAPTER 17.87- (MAJOR OFFICE DEVELOPMENT PERMIT)
TO THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as
follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17.871, of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code
is hereby added to read as follows:
17. 87.010 ,`FURPOSE�_AND INTENT:'
The City Council has authorized the comprehensive study of
office use and development in San Luis Obispo. The purpose of
these regulations is to ensure that new larger -scale office
projects proposed during the course of the study do not
eliminate broader planning options that the City Council may
want to consider.
17. 87.:020: AREAS OF, APPLICATION"
Provisions of this chapters shall apply to all land within the
office (0) zone within the center city area defined on the
Figure 1.
17.'87:'030- - DEVELOPMENT 'AFF =ECTED "
Provisions of this chapter shall apply to all Architectural
Review Commission applications for buildings in excess of 5000
square feet received after October 1, 1985.
17, 87_04-0-- 1'PtRl IT REQUIRED':
Before any office building regulated by this chapter may be
constructed, a development permit must be approved by the City
Council.

Prior to acting on applications, the council shall hold a public
hearing, notice of which shall be given by publication in the
local newspaper at least 10 days before hand.
17.87:060- UND.INGS REQUIRED:,
In order to grant a development permit, the council must find
that the project to be developed is consistent with the general
plan and the Goals for Downtown.

The council may establish conditions of approval to assure
compatibility of the office building with the existing
neighborhood.
17., 8 -7 .- 08'0 ;- EXPIPAT;ION 'OF THE ORDINANGE::> -
This chapter shall expire October 1, 1986, or when revised
office zoning provisions, initiated by the City Council, are
adopted, whichever comes first.
SECTION 4. A summary of this ordinance, approved by the City
Attorney, shall be published at least five days prior to final
passage, in the Telegram- Tribune, a newspaper published and
circulated in this city. A copy of the full text of this ordinance
shall be on file in the office of the City Clerk on and after the
date following introduction and passage to print and shall be
available to any interested member of the public. This ordinance
shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty days after its final
passage.
