SE,CTIOI? 2, The, City Collector of the City of Spun .Luis Obispo Shall annually, on the first day of April of each year, provide, and during the ensuing year keep in hiss office a book designated., "Dog Regicter61 in 'which he. dhall, upon the application of any person oiling or having the, custody of any dog in said City, and the payment to his,i of the registration fea hereby prescribed register such dog by entering in said book its name (if any), its se:: and ge.neral descriyotion, the name. of its otrner or custodies_, the number of the tag issued therefor as hereinafter provided, the date and the amount received for registration fee. SECTION 3. The City Collector shall annually on or before the first day of April of each year procure and during the e.nouing year keep constantly on hand, a sufficient number of metal tags of eon- venien.t size and shape to be attached to a dog's collar, on -which shall a_�-;p;Jar the words, 'San Luis. Obispo City Dog Tag" together with a number and the date, "April 1, 19 _ _ ", with the proper year inserted; and at the titre each dog is registered. under the provisions hereof, he shall. deliver to its orrner or custodian one of such tags. SECYION 9. Within twe.irby four hours after impounding any dog under the provisions of this ordinance, the paundkeey per shall post notices thereof in front of the City I -x,11. and at the public pound in said City. Such notices shall bear the date and hour on which they are posted, contain a general description of the animal impounded • k_ and wtate that it is in the. public pound where it can be redeeried by the ot:ner by causing it to be, registered as hereby required and- paying the accrued fees as fixed by this ordin -nce, and if not so redeezied within two days, it will be sold or put to death. S,CTION 10. The poundkeeper shall securely keep all dogs o iLipounded for two days_ after posting the notices hereby re_c {uire.d, su,)plying there with the nececoary food and water, and during such time the ovmer of any such dog may redeem the saLle by causing it to be registered, procuring and attaching,to it by a collar a proper tag and paying to the poundkee_pe r the following fees, to- uit> !'he. siu:i of One Dollar plus the s.un of Fifty Cents for each day or fraction thereof that such dog has been kept in the public pound after posting the notice, as required by Section 9 hereof. SECTION 11. If any dog impounded under the provic ions of this ordinance be not redeemed within the time herein specified -the pound — kee1ier may sell the. same, at public or private sale, to any person vrho will cause it to be registered: or take it outside -the corporate lizaitc of the city, and if not sold, he shall cause such dog to be I)ut to death end its carcass properly buried. SECTION 1.2. The �Doundkeeper shall lzeep a record of al? dogs izipounded under the provisions of this ordinance and the disl.o^ition wade thereof, in the same -manner that the report of other impounded animals, are kept, and he shall, on the. first day of each month, file with the City Clerk, an itemized, detailed and verified statement of all fees and money received, and all. dogs killed and buried pursuant to the provisions hereof during the preceding calendar month. SECTION 13. Ho person ouning any dog or having the care, custody control or posaession of any dog, shall. suffer, allow or peamit such dog, whether registered or unregistered, to run, be or reEiain on any public street, road, alley, park, square, or o ifaer public place or upon any 2,rivate property other than the property of tha amier or. custodian of such dog wit lout the consent of the oviner of R such property uithi.n the. coroorate- limits of Ib said City; and all dogs shall be deemed running at large within the meaning of this ordinance unless. l-ed restrained by a chain, strap or cord attached. to their collars: and actually held by some person or tied or restrained in an automobile or other vehicle. SECTION 14. Every person who shall violate any provision of this- or.di.nance.; and every person who shall counterfeit or irritate or attemp to countefeit or imitate any tag required by the provisions of this ordinance; and every person who shall attach to the collar of any gog or otherwise use or G.ttemp to use in the. City of San Luis Obispo any counterfeit or imitation of such tag; and every person who shall, in any manner, interfere or attempt to interfere with the oouhdkeeper in tha performance of any duty imposed by the provisions hereof; and every person tiho shall unlawfully take or attempt to take any dog seized pursuant to the provisions- hereof from the cus -tody of the poundkeeper or any of his deputies.; and every person who shall remove or attempt to remove from the. public pound any dog impounded therein without having first redeemed the. same as herein provided or obtained the permission af' the pound — keeper.to.do so, shall be deemed guilty of a mic- dezgeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine. of not exceeding one hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not exceeding ninety days or by both such fine and ixaprisonrilent. . SECTION 15. All young or puppy dogs shall. be exempt from the registration provisions of this ordinance until such time as such young or puppy dogs have been weaned from their. mother. SECTION 16.. Any person keeping or harboring a dog for fifteen consecutive days shall be deemed to be the owner thereof within the meaning of this ordinance. SECTION 17. Ordinance ITo. 8 (New Series) and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, and each of them is, hereby repealed. SECTION 18.
