AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN LUIS OBISPO AMENDING SECTIONS 2420 - 2420.1
OF THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE (PARK
AND RECREATION COMMISSION)
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. Sections 2420- 2420.1 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code
hereby are amended as follows:
"SECTION 2420. RECREATION COMMISSION, PARKS, ETC.
(a) The Park and Recreation Commission of the City of Sari Luis Obispo
shall be hereinafter designated as the "Commission."
(b) The Commission shall have the power and it shall be the duty of the
Commission, in an advisory capacity, to make recommendations to the Council and
to advise the Council in matters pertaining to the creation,operation, maintenance,
management and control of the park, playground and recreation activities of the
City.
(c) The Commission shall consist of 7 members.
(d) Commissioners shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years which shall
commence immediately upon appointment by the City Council. Commissioners shall serve
at the pleasure of the City Council and may be reappointed; provided that no appointee
shall serve more than four (4) consecutive full terms (8 years). Appointment to a
partial term of office following an unscheduled vacancy shall not preclude the appointee
from serving four (4) consecutive full terms following completion of the partial term,
provided the partial term is less than (1) year. Commissioners who have served for six
of more consecutive years at the time this ordinance becomes effective shall be eligible
for reappointment to not more than one additional term.
(e) Vacancies shall be filled for unexpired terms.
(f) All of the procedures and requirements contained in the Council adopted
Handbook for Advisory Bodies shall be incorporated herein by reference."

SECTION 2. Section 2420.1 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code hereby is
amended todelete Subsections (a) and (b) and to delete the notation "(c)" of the
remaining subsections. Thus, Section 2420.1 shall read as follows:
"SECTION 2420.1
The Commission shall hold regular meetings at least once each month, and
may hold such additional meetings as may be deemed necessary or expedient. A
majority of the Commission shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting
the business of the Commission."
SECTION 3. Section 2420.2 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code hereby is
repealed.
SECTION 4. A summary of this Ordinance, approved by the City Attorney,
together with the ayes and noes, shall be published at least three (3) days prior to
its final passage in the Telegram- Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in
said City, and the same shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty (30) days
after its said final passage. A copy of the full text of this ordinance shall be on
file in the office of the City Clerk on and after the date following introduction and
passage to print and_.shall be available to any interested member of the public.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo
at a meeting held on the 19th day of April , 1983, on motion of Councilman
Griffin seconded by Councilman Settle , and on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Griffin, Settle, Dunin and Mayor Billig
