I'm a 28 year old working professional and I live downtown. I started at Cal Poly in 2007, graduated, landed a greatjob in Santa Maria, and started to settle into my community. My boyfriend and I make decent salaries and would love to buy a house here, but we are stuck as renters because of the very limited options for housing. The majority of available housing is single-family homes that are out of our price range and are way too big for our needs. We love living downtown and embrace all it has to offer. We walk to dinner, the movies, Art After Dark, concerts in the plaza- the list goes on and on. We would LOVE to have an opportunity to purchase a condo downtown and continue that lifestyle. San Luis Obispo desperately needs housing. We need a diversity of housing options as well to allow younger couples like us to get into the market while meeting our wants and needs. This project supports workforce and affordable housing, all while adding to the supply of available units. It also creates a centerpiece of "uptown" and a much-needed transit center and parking garage. I think this project is a win-win for our community and we'd regret missing the opportunity for a unique project that provides so many public benefits. I appreciate your consideration of this item. Sincerely, Dianna Beck
