ITEM NO ___ l
February 5, 2016
Dear Mayor Marx,
FEB 0 8 2016
;a p CITY C1 E)p.,C
The voters here on the central coast are very fortunate to have a city council that acts for the
good of the people, not the big money interests. We want to insure that continues into the future.
Here in San Luis Obispo we have the opportunity to adopt the "Integrity of our Elections" public
financing ordinance that is being considered by the City Council. It will allow candidates to
concentrate on connecting with the voters rather than spending their time fund raising. A broader
range of candidates will have an opportunity to run for office. The overall voter confidence and
participation will rise accordingly. Please make this investment in our future democracy. I
strongly urge you to vote yes on this well thought out chance for public financing of local
elections in San Luis Obispo.
Sincerely,
Norm Jackson
