I am not usually very vocal about political matters, but I am interested in an item coming before the Council this
Tuesday.
I am one of the large majority of citizens who are losing faith in the US democracy. The over - arching reason is
that decisions are being unfairly influenced by the donors to election campaigns. Getting big money out of
elections seems hopeless given the power of the forces that benefit from the way the system has evolved.
I love SLO and think that its government and the vision of government are fine and responsive to its citizens. I
cannot say the same for the county, the state, or the country.
Thanks for taking the lead on this issue. We need to set an example from which to return to our ideals of
democracy.
