Mayor Marx and City Council Members:
Just thought I would give you my feedback regarding your proposal to give a sum of money ($20.00?)
to certain people who (under certain conditions) run for various local public offices. As the custodian
of MY money, I wonder whether my money will be given to someone I am opposed to. Also what
source will this 'extra money' ($600,000?) come from? Can I assume that that source has been over
funded? And if so, how come? And if so,why has that dept.'s budget not been cut and why have I not
received a tax refund? I can't help but wonder what other 'extra monies' there are out there that can
be diverted to 'pet positions'? Really, you are opening a 'can of worms' that should be left'closed'.
I am a very long term resident of the city, pay property taxes and a business tax. I did not know when
voting for either mayor or a city council member I was voting for someone to take the elitist position in
believing they know best as to how political campaigns should be funded.
Please do NOT enact your proposal.
