Rowan , f =s4,' 248 Luneta Dr. San Luis Obispo, CA. 93405 ' N1 AY 02 2016 April 30,2016 To: Mayor Jan Marx, Vice Mayor Dan Carpenter, Council Members, John Ashbaugh, Carlyn Christianson, Dan Rivore, From: Frank H. Rowan a 73 year resident of San Luis Obispo. I am opposed to the idea of making Luneta Dr. a through street from Palomar to La Entrada. I bought my home on Luneta Dr. In 1958 when I was 28 years old and had three boys 7,5 and 2. A specific reason for buying in this Parkview II tract was because it was a quiet family neighborhood with entrances from Tassajara and La Entrada and we moved in on Mothers Day 1959. It was an ideal quiet neighborhood for safely raising children. Through the years as San Luis Obispo grew it was extended and homes and apartments built extending it to Palomar, but the Palomar end was blocked off so Luneta continued to be a quiet family neighborhood ideal for children because of little traffic other than residents of Luneta and Hermosa and cross streets of Tassajara and La Entrada. Obviously opening it up to Palomar will immediately make Luneta a main traveled way from Palomar to La Entrada replacing Foothill and Ramona as boulevards expectedly a 500% increase in auto traffic. Further since Luneta is much wider than Ramona I suspect there will be pressure to move the bus route from Ramona. This is not why we bought homes on Luneta Dr. If we had wanted that we would have bought a home on Chorro, Broad, or Foothill. I have happily lived on Luneta for 57 years and strenuously object to any plan to open it up to through traffic. In fact I would like to see the one half street of Luneta Dr. removed, the land sold, and a home built on it blocking any attempt to increase traffic on Luneta. Frank H. Rowan
