Subject: Keep Lunetta closed to through traffic
My wife and I live on Serrano Drive and would be significantly impacted by the reopening of Lunetta. There are already
a significant number of vehicles that travel up and down our street as it is. Serrano Drive is a major access point for
people walking or biking up to the top of Cerro San Luis. Opening Lunetta would be opening the floodgate on traffic
from the Tassajara area because it would become the shortcut to 101 and downtown. We know this because we
already have to deal with a significant number of drunken students who take the shortcut when making their way back
from the downtown bars at tam.
In addition, we live on the steep slope of Serrano Drive just a couple of houses from Broad street. Because of the steep
slope, the engine noise from cars going up the slope is at times unbearable. Adding more uphill traffic would cause us to
sell our house and move away causing us potential financial harm.
We strongly request that the City Council place this issue on their agenda so that the residents of this neighborhood
may have a voice in the matter.
Respectfully,
Eric & Margot McDonald
