Subject: Comment on Agenda Item 11 - REVIEW LUNETA STREET GENERAL PLAN AND
NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC ISSUES
To: "E-mail Council Website" -<emailcouncil(&slocity.org>
Dear Mayor Marx and Council Members,
I would like to voice my support for recommendation #1 to ask City staff to evaluate changing the general plan
to keep Luneta Drive closed. Keeping a barrier on Luneta is in keeping with our pedestrian and cycling friendly
neighborhood.
I'm left scratching my head on the second and third recommendations to allocate $35,000 from general funds for
traffic studies, environmental review, design, and right-of-way services. Why would we possibly spend all that
time and money before we hear staffs recommendations? I am certain that City staff is capable of evaluating
and reporting on this minor change to the general plan. It seems all the more bizarre given the adjacent
controversial 71 Palomar Drive application is predicated on opening up Palomar Drive.
My main concern is that the developer for 71 Palomar should pay for their own traffic studies, environmental
review, design, and right of way services.... not us neighbors/taxpayers.
Thank you
Greg Robinson
